66: Not Your Usual Goal Setting Advice. How To Build Financial Freedom with Trauma Healing, Nervous System Regulation and Stress Relief

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] This is part two of 30 ways. Your father wound is secretly keeping you anxious, overworking, and in scarcity. As the. Mentioned in part one, this was originally a, a one, one episode, but I know that you guys prefer shorter episodes.

[00:00:14] And this one ended really long cause it turns out I had a lot to say.

[00:00:32] If you have trouble focusing or you feel like you shouldn’t be as disciplined as you are or you just cannot be disciplined or you have a kind of, Icky relationship with goals, or you’re always thinking about what to do and how to solve the problem that might occur when your launch does X, Y, Z thing in August of next year.

[00:00:51] Oh, my love. This episode was made for you

[00:00:56] Number seven, the cousin of working hard, [00:01:00] using energy on things that do not have a high return on investment. I kind of jumped to this before, but because you don’t have a strong integrated masculine that is discerning, you just don’t. You’re just like burning energy because the feminine and especially when she’s not contained by a healthy masculine energy, she is just like doing all the things and it’s all fun and over here and we can do that and we can do that and we can do that and it ends up being really dysregulating and we end up overworking.

[00:01:25] It’s really anxious. It feels really scattered. The divine masculine provides the structure and says, wait a second, pause. If we do that, what is the result going to be and is that going to make us money or get us to our goal? Using the least amount of resources in the shortest amount of time and sometimes, you know, because you are a humble, wise soul who has healed your father wound and has therefore healed your ego, you are going to be able to say, you know what, no, actually it’s not, but it was a really fun idea and I really like to do it, but like, it’s not.

[00:01:59] [00:02:00] And it’s having that mental discernment. and not just like pursuing energy and working for the sake of pursuing it. There is a place for creation for the sake of creation and expression for the sake of expression. But In your business, it’s not always the place unless the goal of the business is creation and expression for the sake of it.

[00:02:23] If profitable business is your goal, we need to be discerning and mindful in how we spend our time, energy and resources and make sure that they are actually going towards the things that bring in more time, energy and resource. Um, I think this goes synonym with number eight. Wow. I’ve done like 13. I’m so, did I overwork?

[00:02:47] Number eight, which is reacting to every creative idea and thought, which is very similar to what I’ve mentioned before, but there’s a slight difference [00:03:00]in that

[00:03:04] she who is the feminine, the feminine runs with the energy. It is the energy. It’s in the energy. It’s, it’s flowing with the energy. what we, uh, divine masculine provides structure and slowness and space and discernment. So when we’re on the, when we’re inside of the father wound, we’re reacting. When we’re on the other side, we’re able to witness him, witness our thoughts.

[00:03:28] And because we are more capable of accessing the part of our psyche that is He who observes, so we are able to witness kind of the canvas of all of these thoughts and ideas occurring and marinate in them and not impulsively act on them the same for our emotions and our thoughts, but just, ah, they’re here.

[00:03:50] These are things that I’m experiencing. I wonder. How they’ll end up manifesting. And I have the patience to focus and be disciplined and focus [00:04:00]on the things that bring an income and the patience and the discernment and the wisdom to wait and pause on the things that are not quite ready to be actioned yet, because it’s not clear how they are going to pour back into me.

[00:04:18] Number nine, following and staying on the healing hamster wheel. Guys, if you are still trying to heal your trauma, um, so that you can XYZ, let’s say get financial freedom right now. And, and you’re not there and you’ve been doing it for like more than a year. I said like a lot of you have been doing it for like, you know, a couple of decades and I love you.

[00:04:41] I love you so much. And you were on a healing hamster wheel and you were trying to protect yourself or prove something. Um, or you are avoiding something or you are avoiding discipline or you are avoiding goals and your divine masculine doesn’t want you to do that because he wants you to provide solutions for the world and to [00:05:00] protect your finances.

[00:05:01] So when you integrate that on the other side of healing your father wound. You will be able to get off of this healing, this idea of like, I need to heal. I need to be better. I need to fix myself in order to achieve something. No, no, you need to learn to structure your business in a way that is unique to your body and you need to learn to read your body compass instead of responding to every flimsy or flimsy is such a cruel world, but like flippant experience that it has, you need to find discernment and wisdom and power and discipline, which is already inside of you.

[00:05:35] Like, I know you have it. You know that you have it. Okay, number 10, always prioritizing working through triggers or emotion and pleasure at the expense of your dreams. This is where my people like there is, there is a wisdom in saying right now I’m feeling more emotional and I need to work through this emotional thing that’s going to bring me the highest return on my energy.

[00:05:57] Only working on the emotional thing so [00:06:00] much that you’re not putting things out into the wall. You’re not creating the content. Um, you’re not serving people, you’re not following up on your clients, you’re not asking people how you can do more of this work, you’re not pitching, you’re not putting yourself in places like networking, you’re not getting yourself out there enough that you’re, that you can’t do your dreams.

[00:06:20] Sometimes we just have to be uncomfortable. And do the thing that the business needs, because there’s two things here. There’s the thing that the business needs in order to grow. There’s the thing that you need in order to feel emotionally secure. We want to be doing and building businesses and building structured lifestyles that, that feed both of those needs independent of each other.

[00:06:39] And sometimes, and like, this is just like the pep talk that you didn’t know you need it. And also the reality check is sometimes if you’re not willing to do the thing that the business needs, you need to be okay with the fact that it didn’t get done. And you prioritize your emotions or you need to make sure that it gets that the business gets its need met.

[00:06:56] Later on, or [00:07:00] you need to get somebody else to help the business, get the need met and like get it out in another way so that you can be with your emotions or you need to get the business need met and create a structure for your emotions. So I have spoken before about when I was building my business, I.

[00:07:15] Was it very, very like the beginning, like when I was transitioning between yoga therapy to coaching a little bit more, I was really structured and I had like grieving time. I was going through a heavy period of grief. Um, my ex husband had passed away. He was very abusive to me and he died by suicide and I was extremely traumatized.

[00:07:32] It’s a whole story, but I had to use structure so that I could like keep the business going. And then I think at 6 p. m. every day, I had a specific protocol that I used. Um, okay. So I’m going to talk a little bit about what I used and I did the emotional processing every single day. 6 p. m. My clock works. 6 p.

[00:07:51] m. Emotional processing, dinner, sleep. I was disciplined about it. That way my business got what it needed in the day and my emotions got what it needed at night. Your [00:08:00] specific structure might look different, but this is a good example of using discernment with love, love, love, love, love, love. Not compartmentalizing necessarily, but discernment to love yourself and your business.

[00:08:13] Um, okay. Number 11, not having a healthy sense of confidence to pursue your dreams. So that father wound, it decreases our confidence. It gives us this, this idea that there is something wrong with us because daddy doesn’t love us. There’s something wrong with me. So a sign that you have a father wound is just having kind of a low level of confidence.

[00:08:36] Maybe for you, it feels like imposter syndrome, but it, it’s not. might even just be not even considering yourself worthy of your dreams or not even thinking of your dreams or feeling a difficulty when you think of perhaps what you might want. you don’t feel confident that you could actually make it happen.

[00:08:50] It feels like it’s for everyone else but you. On the other side of that father wound is a healthy level of confidence of a father. This might be difficult, but I know I [00:09:00] can do hard things. This might feel new, but I know I can do it. It’s not arrogance of like, I’m better than you. It’s confidence in like, okay, cool.

[00:09:08] This is new. This is different. I can do this. And I would need that in order to do X, Y, Z it’s confidence. It’s embodied and you feel it like in your thighs, in your belly, in your abdomen, the back of your body, number 12, hypersensitivity to others. So as I’ve mentioned before, The father wound is the loving, sorry, the divine masculine is the loving part of us that is discerning and structured and gives us wisdom and doesn’t make us be like to the wind in our emotions.

[00:09:38] The feminine is like the emotional experience and everything is like flowing around and we are in it and we are just embodying it and it’s carnal and oh my god like the depth of the profound love and it is so freaking beautiful and it’s also so painful and it’s like you were just. flailing around in your emotions and you’re so sensitive to them and they’re so, it’s such a beauty.

[00:09:58] It has such a value.[00:10:00] It is creative, it is loving, it is beautiful. And sometimes it is not helpful because you become hypersensitive to others and you end up hurting yourself. So hypersensitive to what they think of you, hypersensitive to what they might say about you, hypersensitive to how they might respond.

[00:10:16] On the other side of healing your father wound is that divine masculine that’s like, Hmm, I’m having an emotional experience around. Um, and I’ve got myself and I love myself, but I’m relatively calm. It’s like, you’ve always got this one part of you that’s just calm in the storm and then you witness yourself having the emotions and you can dip into the emotions when you really want to, when you just want that like juicy emotional feeling, but you have a really calm and benevolent and graceful part of you that is present.

[00:10:51] More than not. And the last one, number 13, giving up. There is a difference between giving up

[00:11:00] like, and, and deciding to pivot or to move in a different way, but like just giving up, giving up, giving up because you don’t have access to sustainable, discerned discipline and emotional. regularity or nervous system regularity, you end up giving up because it becomes too much because being in the throes of wounding and emotional ups and downs is painful.

[00:11:23] So of course you give up. But on the other side of this, on the other side of healing, Your father wound and integrating all of these different parts of you is you this embodied entrepreneur who is discerning, who is smart, who knows exactly how to make entrepreneurship sustainable. It is sustainable. You don’t burn out.

[00:11:44] You have a profitable business. You’re proud of your fully expressed. It’s amazing. It’s beautiful. That’s what’s on the other side. And on this podcast, you’re going to continue to learn about how to do this. A really beautiful place for you to go right now, if you haven’t already been there [00:12:00]is episode number 66, it is called not your usual goal setting advice, how to build financial freedom with trauma, healing, nervous system regulation, and stress relief, relief, as I mentioned earlier, the healthy masculine relates to goals in a very healthy way.

[00:12:15] And I know because you guys have told me, because I was there, goals can be really hard. When you’re coming from your pain, they can be confusing to a dysregulated nervous system. And so I’m going to give you some advice that you’ve never heard before. Um, you’re going to love it. It’s going to change the way that you relate to your goals and can’t wait to hear how it goes.

TRANSCRIPT:

If you have trouble focusing or you feel like you shouldn’t be as disciplined as you are or you just cannot be disciplined or you have a kind of, Icky relationship with goals, or you’re always thinking about what to do and how to solve the problem that might occur when your launch does X, Y, Z thing in August of next year.

Oh, my love. This episode was made for you. So I’m going to share just a couple of common symptoms that I see  as a trauma therapist who. Really supports entrepreneurs and has a background in nervous system work as well as a tantric understanding and Ayurvedic understanding and I used to do relationship coaching.

So I’m coming to this with an understanding of polarity, both from the energetic sense  as well as imploring meaning the positive conclusion. Traits of the feminine type of energy and the positive traits of masculine energy and how they play within each other as well as an understanding of the different types of wounds that occur inside of our psyche and therefore inside of our body and our nervous system that changed the way that we relate to these energies, , particularly relating to our caregivers.

Today’s episode is going to be really focused on your relationship with your father and how a lot of us. And I’m including myself who have strained relationships with their fathers, , haven’t developed a healthy sense of  healthy masculine inner energy inside. And it comes out when we try to do business in so many different ways, but it makes it very, very, very difficult to remain focused and grounded enough in order to get your business up and off the ground and running profitable.

Your father wound, it might be the That you had an amazing childhood  and your father.  You still have some pain around your father, or maybe your father was still kind of figuring out his own expression of masculinity and healthy masculinity. And, you know, because he was still kind of figuring out, figuring it out within himself, you didn’t receive good modeling of what the healthy masculine is.

I’m Or you didn’t have any father at all, or maybe you had an amazing father with amazing masculine traits, but you still kind of walked away feeling like, okay, there is still some things that I’m figuring out as it relates to my own relationship with the masculine. So I’ve gone over this in a couple of different episodes, but I’ll do a quick recap here and I’ll reference your next best listen at the end of the episode.

But your father.  wound is essentially something that happened between you and the divine masculine. So that might even be God, uh, or Jesus Christ or,  um, Buddha,  or it could be your father that is created inside of you.  Um,  uh, distorted relationship with the divine masculine. So what I’m talking about, the divine masculine, I’m talking about these beautiful inherent traits that are stereotypical  of testosterone and the divine masculine, the divine masculine is he who can contain things, he who can observe things, he who provides, he who protects, and the feminine is she does and is and just like  is activity and aliveness and vibrancy and movement and chaos and energy.

And if you’re experiencing a father wound,  you might be doing a couple of these things I’m about to share. Number one, attracting codependent coaching relationships or clients. So codependent. In a very short sense and a very, very, very, very simplified version of the actual definition is that you’re looking for validation and a sense of security outside of yourself.

Meaning that you’re struggling to find it from inside. Meaning that when your relationships are unclear or there is distance that is  uncomfortable for you, or there’s closeness that is uncomfortable for you, you  Waver and you shake within yourself. You tend to get into rumination, overthinking, obsessive optimism.

Thoughts about the relationship and the other person. Do they like me? What were they thinking? Do I like them? What am I thinking? Was this the correct decision or your idea of success and self worth and security and general sense of okayness comes from the status of this relationship, whether or not you receive positive feedback or not.

A second sign of a father womb that would probably be keeping you overworking and also in scarcity is that you’re not able to focus. Even if you have a lot of things going on, when you are integrated in your divine masculine and you have, so what I mean when I say that is that inside of you, you have healthy psychological subconscious, unconscious, um, corporal,  somatic structures.

that support you in focusing, you have a healthy relationship to the masculine. So if you struggle with focusing, you struggle to sit down and focus on your work,  it is a sign that you are  struggling in your relationship to the masculine. Even when you identify with being neurotypical  or have ADHD. Yes, I said it.

Because when you have  a secure relationship with the father wound, not only Your nervous system isn’t oriented towards being, um, in deficit of attention so much. It’s not oriented towards looking for other things to focus on because a lot of what ADHD is, or ADD or lack of focus is that your nervous system is preoccupied with, it wants to focus on something else and you want it to focus on that thing.

But when you have a healthy relationship, meaning you feel that deep love from the divine masculine, and you have, you know, Deep structures inside of you that support you in focusing and funneling your energy and you’ve practiced them enough that they become embodied and integrated.  Now we have both the structure of the masculine, the father, the father, as well as the love from the father.

And so it’s very effortless the way that we focus. Yes, it can be annoying logistically having to organize things. I’m not saying that  everything becomes easy, but you are able to focus.  If you are Have a father wound that is secretly keeping you anxious, overworking, and in scarcity, you might have struggle, you might struggle with goal setting and discipline and getting up and doing the things that you said that you’re going to do and sticking to your word and even identifying goals.

I know a lot of you either identify goals that are way too big and you feel this pressure, like you need to move forward and you don’t know how, and then that pressure becomes anxiety, and then anxiety comes over thinking, and then because you’re thinking about things so often that you don’t really get anything done, and then you end up collapsing, you want to be in bed for three days.

And I know some of you just like don’t put goals because if you were to put a goal, then you might actually fail that goal and then you might have to be confronted with your fear of failure.  Ouch. It hurts. I know. I’ve been there. I’m sometimes still there.  So sometimes we can have a difficult relationship with goals and discipline.

When you have a healthy relationship with the divine masculine, meaning you’ve healed your father wound,  you are able to identify goals that enlighten and like in enliven you to move forward to them. And you are able to take consistent action that is disciplined to move towards them. Because at the end of the day,  discipline  The question we’re asking is like, what am I disciplined about?

It’s like, what am I a disciple to what am I disciplined to move forward to a woman  with an healthy,  inner masculine, no matter how chaotic or intuitive or whatever you are or how much of a healer you are, whatever you are,  when you heal your father wound, you are disciplined in a way that it feels like flow.

I’ve been really disciplined this past couple of months and it just, it feels like such flow and you can’t even get yourself out of it  because you’ve healed your relationship with the divine masculine and you, you pull on that like,  Divine daddy energy  to get you focused because you care about the work that you’re doing in the world.

And it just feels so beautiful to have that structure and to have those goals and to, and there’s no emotional stickiness around it of like, if I fail, I did this and what will people think? And what will I think? And, and how’s I feel? And how do I manage the pressure? No, you move from task to task to task with presence and love and structure.

And that’s how you get, that’s how you create the profitable business. That’s how you make financial freedom and that’s how you make it feel easy all along the way.  Okay. So number four, um, a sign that you could benefit from really healing from this father wound is that you find yourself jumping to solve problems in the future that just do not need to be solved right now.

One of the amazing things that we can learn from the presence of testosterone in the nervous system is its ability to work,  focus on the thing that you’re working on, then rest and then focus on the next tool and project and the next problem, solve that problem and then rest and then identify the next problem and then solve that problem and then rest.

It is single focused. The masculine is single focused. That’s why it’s so freaking annoying that your boyfriend isn’t planning the holiday that you think that they should be planning right now because it’s happening in three months. Um, they’re not concerned about it because it’s happening in three months, but your feminine brain that is soaked in estrogen that is literally made and has been wired for eons to take care of six children at a time and cook something and look after the camp and make sure that your friends are okay because we are wired through relationships.

We’re wired to multitask.  Our brain finds it easier to think about things further in the future  because we’re in less single focus. And that’s actually really awesome. And I love that. However, particularly as it relates to business, sometimes we can learn from the divine masculine  on single focusedness.

And that’s actually something that in an ideal world, our father would teach us. They would teach us the, the discipline and the focus and then the rest, and we would integrate that. They would model it to us. They would teach it to us in  conscious ways and unconscious ways. And then we would create that structure inside and we would replicate that through the rest of our life.

And for some people, if you have a father wound, either that has been completely rejected or it just didn’t occur. somatic trauma healing, which you find in all of my programs and causes, et cetera, in my work, then. Um,  you can stay more present and you can focus your energy on just the problems that need to solve now.

But you can also access your amazing superpower of knowing what problems need to be solved in the future. And we can access that, that innate project manager inside of you, that innate strategics, strategical thinker and analytical thinker inside of you. And then we couple that with your feminine magical essence and your presence and your power and like, Jesus, wow.

Wow. The world is lucky to have you.  Beautiful. Number five, um, trying to make things perfect. So the feminine. It  has all this energy and wants things to be very perfect and beautiful. And that includes yourself, actually. A lot of what has happened in society is that innate ability that, that females have to want to make things so perfect and so beautiful  because it’s actually would require changing society.

If we were to make society perfect, we would have to change a lot of things  and the people at the top of society at the moment may not want us to do that.  So we redirect that energy  and we try to change ourselves. We try to perfect ourselves. Oh, we try to heal so perfectly so that we can create the thing.

We try to make ourselves so perfect so that that person loves us.  We try to perfect the sales pitch so that we make the sale when actually all we needed was to love ourselves and it sounds really cliche, but here we are again, that’s the lesson  is to be fully where we are.  And so,  yes, there are things that can be bent that can change it in yourself.

On the other side of the father wound that you currently have, that’s making you want to make yourself perfect. So that you can receive the love of the divine masculine and the providence, like the providership and the protection  of the father. Whether it is your business being that masculine structure that’s providing for you, or you want to relate it to God, or your version of that.

Instead of doing that, what we, what we do when we heal the divine masculine is we are discerning in the way that we treat ourselves. We say, how can I love myself so well,  that what I do,  It’s only loving for me and the business I create is only loving for me and the people inside and it ends up being perfect.

But it’s not because we were analytical trying to make it to be perfect. It’s because we said, how can I love this very well?  Meanwhile, our energy gets projected out into the world and we get to be of service.  And because we are of more service. We make more money.  And so instead of putting all our energy on ourselves and trying to perfect ourselves, we put it out into the world.

We create the best impact and the most value that we possibly could. And as a result, money just comes on through  because also we’re smart in the way that we structure it out, but we’re not like, we’re not, this is another thing actually. Did I write it down? Let me check. Yeah. Let me put it in. So  Overworking just like the, just the vibe of overworking to want to prove yourself of like, it’s, it gives this energy of like, daddy, look how, look,  look how hard I work, see how valuable I am.

Give me your love.  And we end up bringing that into our business. Like, look how hard I work. Look how much I create. Look how much I do. Look how many free calls I can do. Look how, look how smart I am. Look how smart I am. Give me money.  You don’t have to prove anything, my love.  You don’t have to prove anything.

You’re loved.  The father, your father, whatever the father is, loves you. You don’t have to prove it. You don’t have to work so hard. 📍

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] I owe every single piece of success that I’ve had towards my goals to this one technique and understanding.

[00:00:07] In today’s episode, I’m going to share with you the one Nervous system science backed technique to achieving your business goals without burnout, procrastination, or anxiety. This episode is really oriented towards people who are achieving goals, such as looking to gain clarity and confidence in your sales and collaboration strategies, trying to overcome feelings of frustration, confusion, or defeat related to having less income than you really envisioned for yourself at this point in your career.

[00:00:55] Uh, developing a deeper understanding of your own nervous system and its impact on your [00:01:00] business success, as well as mastering a sales strategy that feels really true for you, really aligned, really embodied, really integral, just really natural and flowy and easy, like you’re chatting to a best friend, as well as having a really high conversion rate, meaning that the energy that you’re putting into your business is cultivating sales that support you in your business.

[00:01:22] Finances, um, also for the types of goals that kind of work towards providing value and serving your audience and your community in a way that is authentic for you, for some of you, that’s going to be having a big audience and lots of people and having big impact for others. It’s going to be maybe a little bit less large, but still really, really valuable, but it feels true for you.

[00:01:44] It feels correct. Right. Um, and also. Goals that would kind of include just a sustainable and scalable business model, one that fits inside of the market and fits with, so meaning the market has demand for it, and you’re providing value and [00:02:00] people are paying you for that value. And also it’s sustainable and it’s scalable.

[00:02:05] It’s something that your body wants to show up and do through different phases and seasons of your life. And it’s aligning with what you’re really, really good at, and it’s supporting. How you bring your values and your goals out into the world. And yes, you’re getting paid. Obviously, that’s really important, but that’s probably not the biggest reason.

[00:02:24] And why behind the satisfaction of the fulfillment that you feel inside. And this is something, so those are kind of like the overarching goals that I’m referring to when I say achieve your business goals. If you align with those goals, keep lifting. If you don’t, probably not the best place for you. Love you.

[00:02:41] Um, But let’s look at how we’re going to actually do them. Ooh. So I started using this technique back when I was working as a yoga therapist and I was studying as well. And I was working in a nonprofit and I was working in finance and I founded a nonprofit and [00:03:00] things were busy and I was overcoming, um, complex PTSD.

[00:03:03] And now that I’m kind of saying it all out loud, it kind of sounds like I was going through a lot and I was, but I knew that I needed to move things forward and I had to figure out a way to get there. And so I tried implementing this one thing and then later on, I think I was in some type of copywriting course or something.

[00:03:20] And somebody introduced the science behind this to me, or I think it was a book around it or something like that. And then later on, when I was just developing more of my, I’m going to tell you about it and we’re going to unpack all of those different things. Essentially the trick is to do something every single day that is tiny, smaller than what you think it should be, that moves you towards your goals. The golden rule that I have is that That I use with myself and with clients [00:04:00] is to set a goal, break that down into smaller goals, then break that down into smaller goals, and then identify the things that you would need to do every single day or every single week in order to get you towards that goal.

[00:04:13] And then just doing a little bit of that. Just doing a tiny little bit of that each day, particularly if these things are really difficult. So if you struggle with talking about your offer in person, but you know that you really want to do more networking events and have more in person clients, then you’re going to need to start talking about your offer in person and doing more networking events and having them in in person clients.

[00:04:37] And so your goal might be that, but There are tiny, tiny, tiny little things that you can do, such as maybe even just talking about your offer to yourself in the mirror, in a way that feels really embodied and grounded and sturdy, so your energy is in your belly, your knees are soft, um, to, to help you move towards that goal, or, you know,[00:05:00] Getting, changing the way that you kind of manage the way that you work towards your goal.

[00:05:06] So being able to have a goal or a, a deadline coming up, um, that is difficult and perhaps of high stake without. Being able to relate to your to do list and still get things done without feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and helpless, right? You might just learn to sit with those feelings a little bit more, just 1 percent more every day.

[00:05:29] Just 1 percent more every day. And now let’s like, I’m going to introduce to you the nervous system science behind this, which I later understood in a moment. But first, I want you to consider. What we’re really talking about here is the compound effect of work. We move towards our goals with so much more sustainability when we engage in the compound effect.

[00:05:54] There’s actually a book by Darren Hardy, that explains this very, very well. It’s not [00:06:00] a must read. I think it’s a pretty basic understanding. But it’s, it’s still really, really helpful. But essentially what we’re saying is the compound effect, it’s always happening. We’re always going to be experiencing the summary of our day to day habits.

[00:06:17] Meaning that you can experience the effects and the rewards of day to day habits that support you in moving towards your desired habits, or you can experience the compound effects Doing the things that would move you towards your goals in option a, your hats, you’re making these really small choices on a day to day basis.

[00:06:48] So sitting with my emotions for 30 seconds or saying, or spending three minutes Practicing my pitch or looking at my spreadsheet and my launch [00:07:00]items for 30 minutes and creating a plan or work spending 10 minutes a day working towards content on social media or pitching people for a podcast or writing my book or.

[00:07:14] practicing charging more or figuring out the backend of my, my accounting or practicing not messaging so much because I’m anxious and I want everyone to message me back and sitting with that discomfort. You can take that. Those very small choices on a day to day basis and do them consistently and over time see the results or You can engage in the same Habits that you have currently been doing and do them Consistently over time and end up in a downward spiral You have a choice either way time is gonna happen.

[00:07:57] The compound effect is gonna occur [00:08:00] You are going to be the compound of all of your decisions and actions. And this sounds really, really harsh sometimes, but you, you are kind of a summary of your decisions and your actions and your habits that ends up being who you become at the end of the day, it ends up being the life that you create.

[00:08:17] Now you can be the summary of your habits and your choices in a way that you love and desire, and you can leverage time and consistency to move you closer to your goals.

[00:08:28] Or you can allow it to take you further away. Whatever you choose, it’s going to require a decision. And that decision doesn’t mean that it all gets to be easy. We get to learn how to make it easier. My suggestion to make it easier in this moment, one of the things that I use that I’ve been using is just making it smaller, just making it feel it’s better to do something really, really small consistently over time.

[00:08:51] Then to do nothing at all. So whatever it is you’re thinking about right now, whatever your goal is, identify how to get there, break it down into [00:09:00]smaller goals. So then break it down into smaller goals and then break it down until you know exactly what you need to do every single day. And then half that and then do that.

[00:09:07] I actually use chat. jbt to do this. I’ll say chat. jbt. This is my goal. Can you please break this down into milestones? Can you please provide a summary of the things that I would need to achieve each week in order to experience that milestone by X day? Now, can you please divide that in half and tell me what I need to do each day?

[00:09:28] Charity PT is usually pretty good at it. Actually. Um, sometimes it helps to work with a coach and they can kind of. Make some other suggestions, especially if you’re not really sure what you need to do to get towards your goals. Sometimes that’s something that I support people with in body based business.

[00:09:43] A lot of the time it is, but essentially the question that I want you to ask yourself, the thing you can take away from this is what will things look like in 30 days? If you decide to do one small thing to change today, and you were to be consistent with that for [00:10:00] 30 days, what would change for you? And if you decide not to, what would change then?

[00:10:07] What is the compound effect of a new healthy habit? And what is the compound effect of you just staying where you are? Because the truth is your nervous system, and here’s the science of it, your nervous system adapts and integrates slowly. Your body moves slower than your mind. Your nervous system needs time.

[00:10:28] To adapt to new habits and to new structures and to new ways of being, and it does really well with small changes over time, begins to learn them, it begins to automate them so that you don’t have to think about them so much because right now it will require some decision and maybe some willpower and some momentum.

[00:10:49] It’ll take a little bit of energy to get these things going, but then your body will become so accustomed to them. It becomes automatic. Once we repeat it 000 times, it just becomes [00:11:00] integrated into who we are. We become the version of ourselves that just does that automatically without having to think about it and without having to put energy towards it.

[00:11:08] It’s just who we are and what is done and it’s easy because here is Entrepreneurship does get to be easy and it requires a decision so you can leverage the compound effect. You can have everything change in 30 days or in a year. You can be a victim to the compound effect and be experiencing less of what you want and more of what you don’t in 30 days.

[00:11:40] I know which one you’d prefer. How are you going to make it happen? That’s my invitation to you. So if you are curious about how to approach things like this, the compound effect, making change, um, achieving your

[00:12:00]goals without Anxiety or procrastination or burnout. And particularly if you have an experience of chronic stress or trauma, and you haven’t already looked at episode number 66 called not your usual goal setting advice, you need to go and look at it.

[00:00:00]  If you oscillate between preparing all of your savings for a rainy day that never comes and feeling scattered and anxious, like you don’t really know what you’re doing with your finances or just doing what everyone else says and completely avoiding looking at your bank statements because ooh, this episode is for you., you’re going to go beyond just understanding what your stress response with is with money as an entrepreneur. You’re probably coming to this episode like, yeah, okay, I understand kind of the fight, flight, freeze and phone a little bit. Um, but I’ve done all of the work and I am ready to change it.

[00:00:47] We are going to go into exactly how to change it. I’m going to give you an action item at the end of this episode so that you can go forward and change your stress response with money as an anxious entrepreneur starting from [00:01:00]today.

[00:01:00] Okay. Quick recap. Your stress response as an entrepreneur is the way that your body’s sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system respond to conversations about money, activities about money, the idea of money, money to our body, to the, our subconscious and to our nervous system represents so many things that become inherently activating for it, such as your belonging, your identity, your security, the roof over your head.

[00:01:28] Therefore, when our body perceives that our money is threatened, it goes into a stress response.

[00:01:35] And that’s kind of smart because we don’t want something so important to us to be so threatened. And I don’t want to totally be like, we’re going to eliminate that goodbye forever. No, what we want to eliminate is the part of that stress response that stops us from having constructive conversations related to money, whether that [00:02:00] be a sales conversation, or maybe you’re speaking to your employer about your future in the company, or maybe you’re speaking to a client about your future with the company.

[00:02:09] Working with them, maybe you’re speaking to your landlord or you’re negotiating a deal. , maybe you are just on the phone to the bank and like, there was a problem and you got to figure it out or you want a better interest rate, something like that. Ideally, we want you to be engaging in these conversations, whether they are sales or the bank, or something’s happened with your car loan payments, or your car was broken.

[00:02:33] I don’t know, something awful happened and you just need to like, figure something out with the insurance company. We want you to be engaging in them from a place of collaboration with the person who’s on the other side, simply because it’s just going to be more effective. You’re going to get more done.

[00:02:48] I. I want you to still be able to advocate for yourself and so I want you to be able to have a healthy level of stress response but not one where it’s making you over regimented or you’re [00:03:00] unable to connect with the person inside of you or you’re unable to enjoy and spend money on nice things or you’re You’re not looking at the details of your money so that things fall through the cracks and you end up spending so much more money on something that you didn’t need to, or you feel overwhelmed when you’re looking at your money or you avoid conversations about sales.

[00:03:19] So you never sign more clients or you just do what everyone says and look towards financial advisors or your dad or your partner to tell you what to do when you never feel in control of and empowered around your finances. These are the things that we’re avoiding. So how are we going to do it? We need to understand.

[00:03:37] Like deeply understand, you know this, why you’re having such a big stress response. So there are two things here. There’s kind of the in the moment regulation as always, the first pillar of body based business, right? There’s the in the moment regulation, and then there’s the deeper trauma healing. And then there’s the application of that and structuring your life and your systems.

[00:03:58] And then there’s the, [00:04:00] in to support you, right? So let’s look at it. I think of the regulation here as the ability to hold two things in the body. So how can you notice your stress response without it letting you take over? So what that looks like is let’s say that we’re having a sales conversation, um, and somebody I don’t know.

[00:04:22] Let’s say that I’m like, really, it’s the last day of the month and I’m really aware that I have a certain sales goal that I need to meet, and for whatever reason, either I need the money or it would threaten my identity of who I am if I wasn’t to meet it. And I am in this call and I start to feel kind of a bubbly energy in my belly and it starts reaching its way up to my chest.

[00:04:43] And it’s almost like in my throat and. A part of me is getting maybe perhaps impatient or frustrated with the client and I start having thoughts of like, Oh, I don’t need to prove myself to you or don’t worry. Oh, let’s just talk about this another way or you day or you’re not a good [00:05:00] fit when they ask questions around why is the pricing like this?

[00:05:05] What I want you to be able to do is to say, Oh, it is like this because of X, Y, Z, this makes sense, in a very neutral way, as if you were describing why a certain type of potato is better than the other type of potato. We need to be able to hold, okay, I’m noticing that response in my body, but I’m able to Experience it, but still maintain connected to the other person.

[00:05:30] So it’s not like you’re compartmentalizing, you’re fully embodied, but you’re like, Oh, I’m noticing this thing here. And depending on the context, you could name that and connect with the other individual. If you guys are having a conversation, maybe it’s a personal conversation of like, you know, I’m noticing that this is bringing out kind of some, some anxiety for me or, or kind of triggering something inside of me.

[00:05:53] And just want you to know that I’m bringing that to the conversation as we have this. Um, you know, just to be really open about it. [00:06:00] And you’re still able to connect with that person and collaborate to something together. I would say that’s regulation in the moment. You can use things like deep breathing or belly breathing to do that.

[00:06:09] But I found the most, the thing that’s most successful is a tool that I use to teach my clients to feel two things at once without, Collapsing in on themselves and criticizing themselves or without dissociating and dysregulating. It’s just this ability, and you just have to practice it, of feeling two opposing experiences at the same time, being fully present with them and moving forward.

[00:06:36] The second thing we want to do is we want to look at, okay, like, why? Why is this so big for you? You guys know that it’s probably because of some trauma. Right. Have you thought about that trauma? Probably. Have you journaled about that trauma? Probably. Have you really sat and felt it without questioning it or trying to get rid of it in a secure way with the support of another nervous system?

[00:06:58] Maybe a little bit, but probably [00:07:00] not enough. Have you had the nuances of how all of your past experiences of trauma, and what happened with your mom, and what happened with your dad, and in the culture that you live in, how that applies to money? Do you understand the depth and the nuances behind it, or are you in your experiences, and therefore it’s impossible?

[00:07:18] You probably can’t, because you’re in your experience, right? So we want to understand what are the depths and the nuances and little sticky pieces of this trauma, not from an analytical point of view, but like, I can just feel this like very specific thing inside of my body. And it just like this like cute little thing.

[00:07:37] And it just, it just, all that makes sense. And then we move it through and we create what we call reconfirming experiences with money. Your body is having a stress response with money because it’s perceiving that, Money, a certain amount of money or a lack of money is going to create X, Y, Z when we can pinpoint what that thing is and we can give the body evidence that it’s not true, [00:08:00]the intensity of your experience severely diminishes and you create what we call money neutrality where you can have these conversations the way that I’ve described it.

[00:08:08] From a regulated space and that brings us to application. So it’s like now that we have this information and now that we’re practicing these tools, how can I structure my life and the way that I engage in money and what am I going to be on the lookout for that is going to reinforce this new experience that I have with money?

[00:08:27] So for example, if you think that you need to prepare for a rainy day and it gives you anxiety to have your, your savings go down a certain number, I might challenge you to invest that money. Go and put that in the stock market. Go and buy an ETF and be there. Within reason and make sure you still have savings for like, you know, a good amount of time.

[00:08:50] But Challenge yourself as well to maybe put some of that in a, in the stock market or invest it in something that is really important to you so that you [00:09:00] can show to your body that, Oh, we don’t need to just have cash because cash also depreciates so we can, we can, we can have less cash and be okay.

[00:09:10] Or if you really avoid the details or one, avoid the details to the point where it’s detrimental to you and things are falling through the cracks, then how would we set up your week so that you have space and time and resource you feel empowered and supported enough to look at the details of your business, you know, create a profit and loss statement.

[00:09:34] Maybe you don’t have one, but you need one. Look at your accounting with ease and make it easy for yourself. Make it something that you actually do all of your admin and accounting and bring pleasure to it so that it becomes a reconfirming experience. And your body begins to learn with like, okay, cool.

[00:09:53] It’s actually supportive for me to go into these details. If you are somebody who kind of freezes and just does what [00:10:00] anyone else thinks, how can we. Make more empowered decisions regarding your finances through your business. And then can we create and pick evidence for how they actually appear and work?

[00:10:14] Because on the other side of this, you just become this absolute freaking powerhouse that can bring in more money because you can have more conversations about it. You can receive it. You don’t collapse when we start talking about you receiving it. You don’t try to charge less. Um, You can also remain unattached so that it’s very easy for people to keep working with you.

[00:10:36] Nobody feels like they’re responsible for your well being and you become the one that has so much energy and creative creativity and innovation that you can keep going out and propelling your business and your vision forward and making the adjustments necessary in order to be successful in the market that you’re in.

[00:10:56] That’s how we do it. If this is

[00:11:00] of interest to you, you really need to make sure that you’ve listened to one of my most popular episodes, which is where I initially went into understanding your attachment around money. This episode is fundamental basics that everybody needs to have. However, I’ve just literally never seen anybody teach it in this way. It’s called the money mind connection. It’s episode number 17. We explore the impact of note of the nervous system on financial freedom. And we look at the different attachments dollars that the nervous system has to your money episode 17.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Sheridan: This is how you know if you are doing enough, especially if you have to schedule a couple more mental health days than you’re really comfortable with. In today’s episode, you’re going to learn how to navigate those moments when, you know, your emotions pop up and triggers pop up and they do require your attention and they take your action away from the business.

[00:00:37] You’re going to learn what to do when you don’t have a lot of capacity, need to rest and the business still needs things done. And you’re also going to learn how to know when you are doing enough in your business as a solopreneur, especially if you experience any levels of anxiety. This recommendation comes from Jess and I’m just going to read out the [00:01:00] message that, uh, like the question that was asked and I’m just going to give my own assenses on it.

[00:01:05] It was. I’m noticing that as I heal and grow my nervous system’s capacity, I have to be very flexible to accommodate those days when something pops up that requires attention that is triggering or those days when I just don’t have a lot of capacity and I need to rest. There are kind of a couple of things here and we’re gonna note them out and go through them one by one. One, there’s the pot that wants to know if it’s enough and how that’s actually just you trying to control the future. because of your anxieties and your fears and it’s absolutely impossible and it’s an endless fight that you will never win.

[00:01:44] There’s the wisdom behind the part of you that wants to do things, you know, things have to get done in a business in order for that business to have some level of purpose and impact in the world. And then there’s the way

[00:02:00]to structure your current business around your capacity because you don’t need to To wait until you are fully healed or have this full capacity in order to start making money today.

[00:02:18] So let’s look at them in the order that I set them. The part of you that wants to know if it’s enough. There is an inherent uncertainty around any type of entrepreneurship. It’s beautiful because uncertainty means possibility, right? Because it is uncertain, it means anything can happen. Now you can hear that in my voice and be like, Oh my God, anything can happen.

[00:02:41] Or you can hear that in my voice and be like, anything can happen. You can make a million dollars tomorrow in a way that you cannot do in another more structured type of employment, such as working for a salary in a company. We love that. We want that. But because it comes with a level of [00:03:00]uncertainty, your body struggles with uncertainty.

[00:03:05] The more tender parts of you struggle with uncertainty, particularly if you’re somebody who has experienced really intense. Downs in your life before maybe there was some time where something was uncertain your body perceived it to be uncertain it could be just like you went on a trip or it’s like dad went away for a little bit too long and Then when he came back he packed his bags and and fully left or I went on a trip and it was uncertain But then I broke my elbow and I had a really traumatic experience in a hospital.

[00:03:34] That was really awful and Your body is holding all of these experiences and it’s also responding to the fact that it doesn’t like uncertainty because uncertainty means unsafe. So it’s natural that a part of you wants to pop up and, and eliminate most of that uncertainty doesn’t want you to be there.

[00:03:58] However, [00:04:00] if you want to stay in your body, you want to stay regulated. You want to avoid burnout. You want to be able to be a creative, um, Intellectual decision maker who is decisive, who can see different problems, who can solve different problems, who can be present in their business and also present with their loved ones.

[00:04:16] You want to do all of those things that we all want. You need to learn how to deal with uncertainty without letting it shut down and make you doubt your decisions, make you doubt Yourself. Make you doubt whether or not you’ve chosen the right product market fit. Make you procrastinate on having conversations about your product to see if it’s the correct market fit.

[00:04:36] Make you spiral into days and weeks and hours and years and months and like literally years for some of you of trying to figure out the next step. Because the honest truth is you actually don’t know if it’s enough. You don’t know. You don’t know if everything that you’re doing today is enough to get you to your goals.

[00:04:56] What you can begin to cultivate, and I hope that you do through this podcast [00:05:00] and through working with me, those of you who are, is to cultivate enough trust in your body that your body’s going to guide you there, and that you’re always going to be secure and protected, and that your body and the way that it speaks to you through its sensations and its emotions and its desires and its impulses, when you are fully regulated and you can use your amazing intellect of a brain to be creative, to be innovative, to connect with others, You get everything that you want, your only job is to remain regulated and listening and listening with nuance to other things that you want because some down, somewhere down deep inside of your bones, there is this intelligence that is connected to the rest of the world that it knows exactly what you need to bring you the most effortless, these most easeful, the particular type of life that is only going to satisfy you at your core and to get there, you’re going to need to learn to be with uncertainty because uncertainty is possibility.

[00:05:58] So we have different practices that we can use to [00:06:00] do that. We have different kind of approaches with mindset that we can use to do that. That would go outside of the scope of this podcast. But number one kind of homework for you is how can I increase my capacity to be with the uncertainty of not knowing if it’s enough.

[00:06:15] I will note that this kind of does mirror, I think, sometimes our desire to want to make sure somebody else responds to us in a certain way. We want to know that we are enough for them. We want to know, um, if we like navigated that specific conversation correctly, we might go back and replay things or think about how to do our relationships better.

[00:06:37] If you have that same tendency here, you’re also going to learn or I’m inviting you to learn how to navigate uncertainty in relationships. This goes for all of you who are really trying to control all the things that your loved ones do, and it’s probably hurting you. So just notice if there’s a mirror there.

[00:06:56] Maybe that’s a different episode. Anyway. We have to couple [00:07:00]that, um, esoteric way of looking at things and that philosophical way of looking at things and that embodied way of looking at things with the wisdom that this part is coming to you with. It’s a really good question, actually. How do I know when it’s enough?

[00:07:14] On one hand, we don’t, on the other. We can kind of figure it out. A lot of my clients, the first thing that we’ll do when we start working together is we’ll do a really big audit of all of the things that are working inside of their business. I’m actually doing it right now, um, with a really beautiful client who is a therapist.

[00:07:33] And so we’re looking at all of the things that she’s doing that feel really good in her business and lead to having her having more of the types of clients that she wants in this next phase. Then we’re looking at everything else that she’s doing in her week. Okay. And unless she finds it really, really fun or it directly leads to more sales or positioning her as a thought leader, which are her biggest goals, we are getting rid of it.

[00:07:56] We’re not doing it. So we do need to know what is enough. And the way [00:08:00]that we know that is by knowing what are our goals. We have to be more specific about our goals. If you’ve experienced trauma, that’s something that we need to navigate with. Um, sometimes a little bit of tact and, We kind of have to find a goal that your body can work with.

[00:08:14] You know, for some of you, it’s, it’s a monetary goal for others. It’s something else. And we need to find a goal that your body can get on board with and we can move towards. And then we do need to identify like, what are the KPIs? What are the targets? What are the weekly, monthly and daily actions that need to occur inside of the business in order to move you towards your goals?

[00:08:38] One of the things that I teach a lot about is having conversations about what it is that you do with lots of different people. That’s a thing that has to happen. Whether or not you create those conversations through network marketing, through marketing through reels on Instagrams, through your podcast, through YouTube, through, um, going around and talking to people different at cafes.

[00:08:56] We know that we need to have conversations and we know that we need to invite people to work

[00:09:00] with us. That has to happen on some level. You can lose Google ads for it. I don’t mind how you do it, but you have to do it if you’re going to want people to work with you. And so one of the things that we might try and measure is like, okay, well, how many people have we spoken with and pick a goal, pick a goal that feels good.

[00:09:19] Pick a goal that feels doable for you. And. Either you do that goal or you employ somebody else to do that goal. The goal, the thing has to happen inside of the business. Marketing has to happen in the business. Operations have to happen in the business. You have to serve your clients. You have to do sales.

[00:09:37] Otherwise, you don’t have a business. So what has to happen and either you need to do it, you need to find a way to make it fun and pleasurable and joyful and, and realistic, or you need to get somebody else to do it. And both are really wonderful options. Number three is You actually need to, you can [00:10:00]actually structure your current business around your capacity.

[00:10:02] You don’t need to wait. I remember I went through a really painful, um, emotional experience probably about a year and a bit ago. And prior to that experience, I was doing a lot of one on one work. So I would spend a lot of my time. And I loved it. And it’s, it’s just lit me up so much and it’s felt so wonderful and so good.

[00:10:28] As that specific event was occurring, I had a couple of one on one clients kind of ending. And so I had some space in my calendar and I was sat with this decision of, okay, um, do I go when I invite more people to work with me? Um, and do I reach out to some of the people who are interested in one on one and do I fill my calendar or do I not?

[00:10:49] I was having a lot of emotional ups and downs. And so I knew that. Actually wasn’t really going to help me to have a lot of structure in my calendar. [00:11:00]So I restructured my office and I restructured my business plan and I created something that I was still making money Actually ended up making more money, which is really cool because I had to just restructure a couple of things and I had less time that was so structured and put on my calendar.

[00:11:18] That was better for my capacity at that moment, because I was able to really be in the grieving stage, fully transmute that and then move on with my life. Very I want to say like I feel like I’ve moved on in a way where I’ve gone at my own pace It hasn’t felt rushed. It’s felt like it’s happened quicker and I’ve really integrated the wisdom from it Very it was very integrated rather than like something that I’m still kind of healing from and so restructuring my business allowed that to happen and I was able to Still make money while I was going through this very sensitive time.

[00:11:55] If we compare that to when I was a yoga teacher and I was going through [00:12:00]deep grief, I was in the throes of complex PTSD. It was not supportive to my calendar. It was not supportive to my body to have so much free time. What was actually more supportive for me, and I sat down and I looked at it and I was like, okay, because I know what I know about the psyche, I’m going to structure my day really well.

[00:12:20] And I’m. Also going to structure in times to be grieving, to be angry, to cry, to move. And so I went out and I said yes to lots of things. And I taught a lot of yoga classes and I did a lot of coaching and I structured sleep in and I structured meal times in because that was more supportive for my capacity.

[00:12:39] So it’s about looking and structuring your business around your capacity and knowing that you get to have a business that supports you in your current capacity. That’s the reason that you’re doing this to have that control. But when I say this, I’m not trying to say like, go out and just like be easeful and we all just need to work less.

[00:12:57] And in all of that, I think that there’s like this big [00:13:00]romanticization around having time in your calendar and that’s really helpful sometimes, but it’s also not helpful all of the time. So when I sit down with my clients and something like this happens, we just say, what does my calendar need to look like and what are the things That in my business that I can sell that will fit in with my calendar.

[00:13:17] What price do they need to be at in order to sell them? And then what are the action items that need to happen in order for me to sell that thing at that price point? And am I going to be doing that or not? Are you gonna be doing? Or like, is an employee gonna be doing that? And then we check all of that.

[00:13:34] Does that feel good? We usually kind of divide it by at least we really decrease it by at least 25% because you and I are probably quite overachievers and we are very ambitious with what we can do. Um, and I, we are aware of that. So we kind of like then just take a little bit off and then we say, that’s realistic.

[00:13:52] That’s gonna work. Let’s go. That came from my body, that came from my desires, that came from what is true for me. It’s going to make me money. I’m going to feel

[00:14:00] satisfied in the process. So yummy, do it, love it.  [00:00:00] If you’ve ever thought, Oh, I wish I could just sell as easily as my mentor. Today’s episode is going to teach you the buddy based way to make that possible. By the end of today, you are going to find the secret key that you’ve been searching for to your success as well as the three step buddy based process to become as magnetic and successful as your mentor and how to sell and bring in income in a way that it is effortless, easy and consistent.

[00:00:40] I’m going to be blunt. I mean, I get to the point, you guys know, I like to go deep and be honest. And for some of you, this, this answer might actually annoy you a little bit because the honest truth is your mentor is out there using a business and marketing strategy that It’s [00:01:00]probably in the way that you’re seeing it.

[00:01:02] At least we don’t actually know cause you never really know anything. It’s probably working quite well for her and there’s probably a part of you that is looking at the things that that person is doing and thinking, well, how could I replicate that? And would that work for me? And what would I do inside him?

[00:01:17] What would that look like? And maybe I can just learn from them and maybe they can teach me. And perhaps you’ve even bought like some type of. I don’t know, marketing or sales or copywriting or digital marketing or wealth practice from them. And maybe it’s gotten some level of results, which is awesome. I love that.

[00:01:35] But it’s probably not gotten all of the results that you desire because it’s probably a part of you that feels like, Oh, there’s a little bit something missing. And like, it’s, you know, I’m doing all these things, but it’s not quite as easy and embodied and effortless as it appears that it could be. I feel like there’s something missing.

[00:01:50] And you’re right. There is because everything that you’re learning from your mentor or the person that you admire about sales and about [00:02:00]marketing and about business is not made for you. Your body was not made for their strategy. Their body was not made for yours. Perhaps the thing that you are noticing that you are admiring in somebody else is embodiment.

[00:02:17] For some people, embodiment and sales looks a little bit more of that, like fiery, fierce, airy qualities. Like Aries qualities, you know, that like go and get them and they’re bold. For others, it’s soft and it’s reserved and it’s almost quite soft spoken. And whatever you’re seeing inside of that other person is telling you, Oh, I would like to like play around a little bit more with that.

[00:02:48] But what’s truly happening, and you can do shadow work around it, and you can look at what you admire in other people and start playing around with those different qualities in yourself. What is [00:03:00] driving even that intelligence is something that we call somatic intelligence. Somatic intelligence runs through the veins and the fascia and the muscles and the bones of every single person that exists inside of the world.

[00:03:14] It is the innate intelligence that all beings have, you know, even trees have it in a way. Somatic meaning embodied. Soma means to be of the body. It’s intelligence that’s running through your body and it communicates to you through sensation, through emotion, through thought, through impulse, and through stillness.

[00:03:32] Historically in both Western and Eastern or Middle Eastern practices, we’ve, we’re given this idea of there’s something inside of us that propels us forward towards what is good for ourselves and what is good for others. What happens when you have a scab or you have a cut, you cut your body and your body knows how to heal itself. But if you keep Kind of like picking at the scab from the cut or you put it in an environment where it’s not supported, then your body [00:04:00]can’t activate that somatic intelligence and it won’t heal.

[00:04:02] And it’ll get like icky and gross. And, and you’ll kind of look at them like, why isn’t it healing? Why isn’t it working and doing the thing that it’s supposed to do? It’s because, well, the environment,

[00:04:13] And so perhaps, maybe the person that you admire is working with their somatic intelligence. Perhaps they put away the rules and you’re still trying to figure out rules. You’re still trying to figure out what it is that somebody else did in order to have success or what it is that I’m doing in order to have success, but you’re not learning how to access your own version of success inside of yourself.

[00:04:40] Now here’s the good news. You’ve landed in the And the corner of the internet. Well, I will not let you use anyone else. Use your dad or use that person on Instagram or use your cousin or that person that you really admire from your yoga class, or even use me to tell you what is going to be best for you.[00:05:00]

[00:05:00] I will not let you do that. I will help you put away all of the rules, put away the, the environment that doesn’t let you access the intelligent, intuitive, creative, and supported part of you, put away all of it. And I will support you in creating an environment, meaning a business that supports you financially and environment inside of your body, inside of your mind that supports you in accessing that innate part of you that knows exactly what you need for sustainable income that you love, that turns you on, that lights you up, that is living inside of your body. Hi guys, this is Freya and she is building her business alongside of you and she is also using somatic intelligence and this is a very good question. You access it using my methodology. The body based business method, this is a methodology that I have used as well as hundreds of clients to create income in a way that is easy.

[00:05:58] to improve [00:06:00] relationships in a way that is nourishing, to feel safe, to decrease burnout for so many different things. There are three pillars. Number one is regulation, because your intelligence comes out through safety. It comes out through that calming environment. Like I said, the second pillar is trauma healing.

[00:06:21] And so perhaps you’re even holding this belief, um, that was, kind of fermented or like integrated or concreted into a should that is stopping you from accessing your somatic intelligence. Maybe it’s like, I shouldn’t. Be lazy. Well, maybe you should, maybe you should be lazy. Maybe that’s your intelligence.

[00:06:44] Maybe laziness is simplicity and ease. Or maybe you are holding another should around something that you perceive as a weakness. Sometimes I’ve had a client earlier today and she was like, well, I just feel like I’m not flexible enough. Well maybe that [00:07:00] means you’re strong and discerning. Maybe that’s your semantic intelligence.

[00:07:04] So you probably have all of these different qualities inside of you that you are possibly labeling as good or right, like right or wrong, but there are no inherently bad qualities in humans. There were only situations that either support them or support them. So what qualities inside of yourself have you decided are bad or wrong and perhaps in your business, could they be useful?

[00:07:27] The third thing we do is we build a business where your inherent qualities are useful. We build a business strategy. We build office. We perfect and master your mastery and your sales strategy. We anchor into all of it. We embody the version of you that is the most you, and we build a business that supports you being the most you at your own pace.

[00:07:49] And then as a result, and through practice and momentum, you become the person who sells as effortlessly as your mentor. Which is exactly what you [00:08:00]wanted to begin with. Now keep listening to the podcast to begin practicing this. Of course, if you’re interested in working with me and learning exactly how to do this, like I said, I’m not interested in you learning how to do it the way that I do it.

[00:08:13] We’re learning how to do it the way that your friend does it. No, I’m learning. You’re going to do it the way that you’re a somatic intelligence. You’re going to sell, you’re going to market, you’re going to do business, you’re going to do money. You’re going to do it in the way that you need to do it and you need to believe that you are worthy of that.

[00:08:27] So if you haven’t already listened to episode number 58 called How to Heal the Worthiness Wound to Receive More Love and Money, I highly recommend that you do so. You will find the link below to that. This is quickly becoming one of the most popular episodes. It’s probably going to surpass, um, the foundational episode number 39, which like jumped to the most popular.

[00:00:00] If you tend to be an anxious, sensitive and overthinking entrepreneur, you probably doubt yourself. But what if that wasn’t something that you needed to get rid of and instead something that has a message that you need to listen to?

[00:00:11]

[00:00:27] By the end of today’s episode, you will know the myth around self doubt and why so many people fall into the trap of thinking that we need to get rid of it, as well as why your relationship with your body and your emotions is the key to unlocking all of the intelligence and wisdom and material success that you desire, and then exactly how to use that information to easily build a stronger relationship with yourself, increase your confidence, and as a result, increase your income.

[00:00:56] The key of this episode is quite simple. And yet [00:01:00]sometimes we take that simple thing and we make it more complicated. Humans have an art of taking what is simple and making it more complicated. I am not. I’m immune to this. I do it to myself as well. So let’s look at your body for a second. Your body has a way of understanding the world.

[00:01:18] It does this through something called neuroception. So the way that your nervous system picks up cues from their internal and external environment to decide whether or not it is safe. It has perception the way that your body is. perceives the environment. So it’s kind of like a little, a little bit more conscious.

[00:01:34] And then it has your conscious awareness. So you take what your neuro your neuroception gives you, your perception gives you and then you filter that through your conscious awareness and you decide about how you’re going to follow it. When we’re children, uh, we create these Neurological, um, pathways that, uh, become stronger and stronger and stronger every single time that we use them.

[00:01:57] For some of us, it’s doubt. We learn to doubt [00:02:00] ourselves. We start thinking, Oh, maybe I’m not right, or maybe I did something wrong. And this is actually really smart because sometimes we are not right. Sometimes there are ways that we can do things differently. But this. Doubting, pathway becomes stronger and stronger and stronger the more that we use it.

[00:02:19] And it’s also particularly reinforced, particularly in women, because a woman that doubts them herself is, it’s less of a threat to society status quo. But that’s, that is another episode. It, is reinforced through our intimate relationships. So when your dad’s like, Ooh, are you sure about that? Because really dad wanted you to pick the thing that he wanted.

[00:02:43] Or when the billboards tells you that you should shave your legs in order to be attractive. Or if you had hair loss like me, that we should like, I don’t know, change how we look or even if you don’t have hair loss, it doesn’t matter. Anyway, society kind of would like us to doubt ourselves. And so it does all these things

[00:03:00] where it reinforces this doubt.

[00:03:04] So we create this neural pathway of doubt. And then inside of the body, we respond to the events of the world. And the way that we respond to the information that we get comes in the form of emotions. Emotions are energy in motion. They come into our body and they’re here for a message. They have a message for us.

[00:03:25] Sometimes. It’s difficult to understand the message of that emotion because we just haven’t been taught. I think it’s actually quite simple, but it’s a practice and we just haven’t, we just haven’t been taught it. You know, if I could go into every school and teach every child how to, how to listen to their emotions, most of, The world’s pain would not be present, but we haven’t done that.

[00:03:50] You’re here learning it today, which is really awesome. And thank you for doing that. The emotions try to get our attention and they have [00:04:00]a little bit of wisdom and like a little piece of wisdom. You know, anger says this boundary has been crossed or grief says I’m missing something or apprehension says, I’m not quite sure about something.

[00:04:13] And it wants us to listen to that emotion, not always to take action on it, but to extract a piece of wisdom outside of it.

[00:04:21] That is Emotions sometimes latches onto thoughts of doubt. And what we sometimes do is we try to get rid of the doubt. We try to get rid of the doubt. We try to mindset our way out of it. We try to, we try to like haggle with it and say, well, no, no, we shouldn’t doubt ourself and you should be really comfortable.

[00:04:46] Well, I’m really sorry, my love, but you should doubt yourself because there is a level of humility around that where you can say, well, maybe I can do things differently, but not In a way where we latch onto shame and guilt and we say, I’m wrong and I’m [00:05:00] bad. But because you’re doubting wisdom in it, we can’t see the wisdom because it’s latched on to fear and shame or disgust towards yourself or confusion.

[00:05:20] But there is that every single time that I sit with a client and they say to me, I’m just not really sure about this. We find it’s because there is a better way to do it every single time. But we only find that when we untangle it from the guilt or the fear or the shame. That doubt is simply the way that your wisdom is expressing itself. But we need to look at how to untangle it first. Okay. There’s a doubt. There’s kind of a sentence. Well, there’s kind of, there’s something there. It’s probably connected to an emotion. There’s maybe fear or guilt or anxiety. Okay, cool.

[00:05:55] Well, that has something interesting about it too. And that’s probably connected to a [00:06:00] sensation. You know, I’m feeling like a lot of activity in my head or I’m kind of hunching over or I want to pull away from my phone or I want to. Fool towards something or I have an impulse to write an email or an impulse to message my friend or an impulse to, to reach out to my coach.

[00:06:14] There are all of these different sensations, emotions, thoughts, and impulses. Your doubt has a wisdom inside that it’s trying to give you. It’s trying to speak to you, and it’s only doing that through the way that it knows, which. doubting you. But instead, what begins to happen is you get to become, when you learn to read your body compass, you actually get to become the woman who can have a thought of doubt, not make that mean that there’s anything wrong.

[00:06:43] So not collapse into shame or overthinking or journaling about it for three days or ruminating or complaining to a friend or getting angry at themselves for not having done something better or sooner or quicker, but you can become the woman. The woman who kind of says, okay, cool, interesting thought about

[00:07:00] doubt.

[00:07:00] Okay. Connected to a specific emotion. Interesting. And within 90 seconds, you can extract the wisdom of that doubt. And then you can go and take action in a way that propels your business forward and makes you do things better. Not because you were doing them badly, but because you are smart. You are so damn smart.

[00:07:21] You underestimate yourself so much. You have so much goodness. I know that you can feel that next level, like it’s right there. I know that you can feel that, but that doubt, understanding it, untangling it, getting to the root of what it’s really trying to tell you about your creativity, about your innovation, about your vision, being the woman who can read that.

[00:07:43] Correctly and not buy into the false narrative that it has because that’s the only tool your body has in this moment to speak to you being the woman who can read underneath that and then completely revolutionized her entire life out of her families and that of her communities. [00:08:00] That is the embodied entrepreneur in you and that is the reason that we are here.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Sheridan: Are you tired of cells going up and down and you feeling like you are spinning your wheels and burning out? We’re about to fix that. In this episode, we dive into a three step body based business methodology that will increase your sales without draining your energy. You will understand the internal and external factors that contribute to sales, and you will learn how to regulate your nervous system for increased magnetism.

[00:00:38] Plus discover the importance of healing trauma to break free from cycles of overwork and burnout. I’m going to take you through my three step body based business methodology, and I’m going to give you some action items and some reflections for each step so that you can increase your sales without increasing how much energy that you expend.

[00:00:58] Whenever a client comes to me, [00:01:00] one of the very first things that we need to understand is what are the things inside of their business that actually lead to income. And for some of you listening, you’re going to be pretty clear about what those things are.

[00:01:11] And for some of you, you’re going to be a little bit unsure, but regardless of where you are, there are both internal things and external things that create sales. So an internal thing is kind of, this is the, this is the primal body. This is the nervous. system. This is the nervous system science behind magnetism.

[00:01:29] We cover that, um, in one of some of the trainings that I do, but it’s kind of like, how is my nervous system interacting with other people and how do I create a sense of, um, confidence inside of my nervous system that evokes inside of other people, the trust of the clarity that they actually want to work with me or.

[00:01:48] Purchase something. This is for some of you, what you might call energetic. Some of you might call this mindset, but it’s whatever you do inside of your body that works. Basically. [00:02:00] Um, when you’re working with me, we amplify that to a hundred. We understand the depth behind it and like the depth behind it, the deep nuances of it, the, the little micro things that change and make it more effective or less effective.

[00:02:15] Um, And we go crazy on that. We amplify it. We turbocharge it and we leverage the hell out of it. So that, uh, making sales is so much easier for you. And we do that using some of these processes. So there’s an internal and there’s also an external, meaning there are external actions that you do, uh, or don’t do that end up leading to sales.

[00:02:38] I’m going So use the example of two clients for examples of what this external and internal might be. So client A, her external is, she’s really good at serving clients. She, so she, she knows that she always makes more sales when she focuses her energy on serving the clients. She, Get a lot of work through word of mouth, asking for referrals and proposals.

[00:02:59] [00:03:00] And inside of her body, it’s really about prioritizing sleep for her and having a great relationship to deadlines and staying in a place of excitement in a sense. But it’s a very, um, We had to get very clear about what level of excitement is helpful for her and what level of energy is helpful for her because sometimes it gets, um, to dysregulation.

[00:03:23] It’s so much, she’s so excited and people are drawn to that. But then if she lets it kind of topple over too much, she becomes exhausted. So that’s an example there of internal and external. Another example might be client B. So she, Externally, her marketing and sales process looks like she posts on LinkedIn.

[00:03:40] Uh, she does sales calls and she also goes to networking events internally. She really was looking to create space of, it’s, it’s like a element of equanimity of peacefulness. It can be very difficult for her to get there, but she notices that when she is in that very calm and grounded space, [00:04:00]that things tend to work out more in her Ironically, that’s really where she wants to be.

[00:04:06] It’s hard to get there and it’s where she wants to be. So we’ve done a lot of work inside of body based business, really setting herself, setting her up to be more in that space when she goes through her sales and marketing actions, such as LinkedIn sales calls and networking events, we, what we’ve done through client a and B is we’ve leveraged the internal And that has actually amplified the external, their strategy has been tweaked.

[00:04:34] It hasn’t been overly changed that may or may not be true for you when you’re inside of body based business. Let’s , go through the three steps of how you can take three steps for more consistent sales without the need. burnout. Number one, step number one is the body based business. Step one, which is regulate. So this is the in the moment regulation. And what I’ve done with both client A and B is [00:05:00] that we looked at what lifestyle things or habits were causing burnout.

[00:05:06] Burnout or causing energy to be depleted or causing kind of a sense of frazzleness. So for client a, it was that she was really struggling to sleep. There was some stuff happening around sleep. She couldn’t stay asleep. She couldn’t get to sleep. Um, she would sleep late and then fall back asleep. bad about it.

[00:05:24] So we really honed in on what are some things that we can do to make sure that she can sleep. Now when you’re working with me, we’re pulling on Ayurveda, we’re pulling on nervous system regulation, emotional alchemy, we’re pulling on coaching, we’re pulling on diet, we’re pulling on so many things because I have been practicing as a yoga therapist and meditation teacher and Ayurveda specialist and a trauma therapist and a business coach for a really long time.

[00:05:48] And lots of tools, but we really focused on sleep. And so we use different tools so that she could really focus on getting a really good circadian rhythm. For client [00:06:00] B It looked more like the way that her calendar was set up She knew what she needed to do to set her calendar up in a certain way But she just hadn’t been able to execute it and stay to the schedule that was supportive for her So we did some coaching around that And we also utilize different embodiment practices and breathwork practices so that in the space inside of her calendar, she wasn’t dipping into anxiety.

[00:06:24] And am I enough nurse? Rather, she was enjoying the space in her calendar, kind of basking it and reveling in it. Um, and then showing up with that sense of equanimity to the rest of her events. Step one is identify the proper profitable actions. If you’re not sure, work with me and I will help you. Um, if you’re not sure what your profitable actions are, we need to get really, really clear on those things. Otherwise that’s the way that we focus our energy basically make you not spin your wheels.

[00:06:53] Around those profitable actions, can you bring in some regulation, whether that is through lifestyle, diet, breathwork, [00:07:00] in the moment practices, um, journaling, uh, yoga classes, uh, shaking up and down, um, saying different thoughts to yourself, affirmations. Whatever they are that will bring you sent back to a space of calmness, of I canness, of I’ve got this, of I am here and I am present and I am love and I am awareness.

[00:07:21] Then the next thing is you’re going to go to step two, which is the healing trauma part of things. You may or may not resonate with the idea of having trauma, but you probably understand that you have certain unconscious patterns that are causing you pain that are keeping you in. Thought processes or actions or lack of actions that are causing you to overwork or to work with attention.

[00:07:49] For me personally, you know, that I’ve been on this really big journey of being okay with working less. Um, it really started about two years ago. I was struggling to not work on the weekends. Um, and [00:08:00] it was impacting my relationships cause I wasn’t really ever present and I never got a break from my own mind and you know, I, I, I would go to the I had to do a lot of trauma healing around what is my worth if I’m not producing, right?

[00:08:14] For some of my clients, uh, their healing trauma actually comes more around the stress cycles that are being held in their body that haven’t been completed. Burnout occurs when we, we have this energy that comes into our body through the place of emotions. A lot of the time. Through an experience that we have and we cannot regulate it in the moment.

[00:08:36] We cannot process it in the moment. This might just be something as I was, I had a conversation with my boss and I couldn’t say the thing that I wanted to say. So I kind of literally swallowed it, stored it down in the body and I haven’t actually looked at that. You know, that was six years ago and it’s kind of been influencing me for a while, but it did hurt me and I haven’t really looked at it or it might just be, I had a really overwhelming day, a lot of days in a row.

[00:08:59] You know, maybe [00:09:00] you’re working really long days for a couple of years and you just couldn’t really complete it and process it and everything just went into a blur. Um, maybe there was a really quite more pronounced event that left a mark on your psyche. And it doesn’t need to be anything that was big, maybe it was, or, you know, maybe you lost some money in some place or you saw your grandfather go bankrupt, but there’s something that’s occurred inside of you that is causing you pain.

[00:09:26] And it’s giving you this energy of like, I’m running to get somewhere, but I’m always kind of out of, I’m always just a little bit behind or I’ve got to run away from something. I’ve just got to keep going. Going if not, like if I stop, then I don’t know what will happen. And, and I don’t really know what this is going to look like.

[00:09:43] And maybe there’s a bit of fear, but there’s just something that’s happening in the body that is incomplete. And your response to that is, is working and never resting your mind. You’re never resting your body and never finding that place of surrender. And[00:10:00]

[00:10:00] that third place that you want to find. So we’re going to. Anchor into number two and you’re going to look at healing that trauma for some of you that for a lot of us, I recommend using body based practices. I’m a somatic practitioner. I will always use a body based practice, and we will use different tools to help you move that energy from the body, oftentimes without needing to return to the event or to think about it or to dwell on it, but rather allow that energy to be moved through the body.

[00:10:32] Then we complete the cycle, we heal the trauma, we integrate the wisdom, and we can move forward and we can find our new truth and our new action, which takes up to step three, step three is to anchor into and take action. So the question becomes what truth, action, identity, or habit do you want to build?

[00:10:49] To integrate. Do you want to be new? Do you want it to be okay that you don’t work a certain amount of time and you still find success? Are you trying to create a foundation where your work is [00:11:00] satisfying? Well, it might be scary to lean into doing less. It might be scary to look at the fact that you are worthy, no matter how much money you make.

[00:11:13] It might be scary to look at the fact and say you can be big and want to make lots of money and people will still love you, that you haven’t done anything wrong, that you are forgiven, that you are safe, that you are okay. But we need to anchor into so we find a somatic practice to anchor into and then we take action on that new thing

[00:11:37] and then we move forward. And we integrate that into our business strategy and we integrate that into our marketing strategy and we make sure it’s all set up and we use as many automated systems as we can so that our mind can relax. And that is your three steps to consistent sales. Pick one thing to do today.

[00:11:54] Walk away from this with one thing that you’re going to do today and practice that for a [00:12:00] week and let me know how it goes. Send me a message. I can’t wait to hear from you. Let me know, you know what you learn, what trouble you run into, why it’s easy, why it’s difficult.

[00:12:08] Now you can take this deeper by looking at your relationship with goal setting. I’m going to share with you something about goal setting that completely changed my life. I went from very stringently setting goals Uh, very ambitious ones and focusing very hard to get them done. And I also have struggled, um, not being able to set goals or feeling anxiety around goals or not being able to identify my desires and both sides of the pendulum were responses to pain and trauma that I have had and that I every day continue to just kind of work on through now.

[00:12:44] I’m going to share with you these little secrets that I had to figure out myself alone, blindly. You’re going to learn about goal setting from a trauma informed and nervous system. Friendly lens.

[00:12:55] You’re going to learn what to do. If you can’t feel into your desires for the future. [00:13:00] As well as how to set goals when you’re not motivated by them and the one unique way that you can stay motivated even when you’re not. This 10 minute episode is called Not Your Usual Goal Setting Advice. It is episode number 66 and you will find it down below in the show notes linked right up there for you.

[00:13:20] Can’t wait to hear from you. Let me know how this experiment goes.
