TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Most people completely misunderstand what boundaries are and are not either use them to manipulate or they forget about them and lose themselves. Today we’re looking at how a lack of boundaries will impact your ability to make money.

[00:00:30] You’ll walk away from this episode with unpopular pricing advice and why you cannot charge what you’re worth that helped me ethically create new clients and become a full time coach. The super problem, super common, really problematic mistake that people make when working to sign more clients. And at the end, we’ll cover how my client went from fix it mode with her clients and not signing any to embodied presence and signing numerous clients in a [00:01:00] week.

[00:01:00] There’s one thing that I see a lot of people do and I personally have done myself. It’s a mistake that we make when we set an intention to increase our income or assign more clients that actually ends up making it so much harder to, to achieve our goals. But before I can share that, I want to share what boundaries are.

[00:01:25] Boundaries are often understood as kind of walls that we put up in between ourselves and other people. I like to think of boundaries as containers that help our, help us love each other or in the context of business, serve each other and support each other. So the super common, really problematic mistake most people make when working to sign more clients, making it harder to get them is that they have a lack of containers or lack of boundaries that lead to overcommitment, [00:02:00] overworking and burnout.

[00:02:02] So for example, if I’m a service provider and I Kind of say I’m available at all times because I believe that me being available at all times is going to somehow serve you more. I’m going to have more availability. I’m going to have more clients, whatever that reasoning might be. When we extend ourselves too much, it actually affects the quality of our services.

[00:02:23] It diminishes our energy and it diminishes our focus. And then in turn, that limits our earning potential. These poor boundaries. Are very much related and this type of, , activity is usually often related to a flight nervous system response. We’re afraid, there’s fear in the system, we’re worried and preoccupied about what could possibly happen if we were to stop being so available.

[00:02:47] , What’s very interesting is that this usually results in more of that chaotic energy, disorganized schedules, inefficient time management, not really feeling like you’re there, feeling spacey, perhaps even double booking [00:03:00] clients or running late for sessions and meetings or not being able to prioritize other business tasks such as marketing or financial planning.

[00:03:09] It’s this It’s usually related to that flight response that is chaotic. It feels unsafe. Sometimes it is related to a fight response where it’s like, I have to get everything done now. I have to finish these things. Both can be true. They’re slightly different undertones because one, when it’s a flight response is coming from kind of an anxiety and a fear when it’s a fight response is coming from more of like, I’ve got to do something.

[00:03:36] I’ve got to move forward. I’ve got to keep going. Independent of which one it comes from, what the body is experiencing is that when it is working, it is in a stress response. The body wants to avoid you being in a stress response, right? We don’t want to We don’t want to feel like we are running for our life all of the [00:04:00] time.

[00:04:00] We don’t want our body to feel that way. So if while you are engaging in your work, you are in a stress response, it’s going to be really difficult for your body to prioritize giving you the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and impulse to act, um, that is going to propel you forward into things that are going to do things like.

[00:04:19] Sign more clients, right, or bring in more income because the body thinks, well, work is stress and I would rather not stress. So I would rather not work.

[00:04:32] The other thing that happens that I notice a lot, especially in types of clients that I work with inside of body based business, which is my one on one, , coaching container is that we end up with a lack of firm boundaries, very much related to an underlying feeling of. Am I worthy of this? Do I know enough?

[00:04:57] Am I good enough? Do I have enough experience?[00:05:00] , this underlying feeling of I’m actually not that good at my job or I’m not that good of a person or somebody else is better than me. And so in this case, not having boundaries is kind of like the symptom of the underlying problem, which is a lack of self worth.

[00:05:22] The way that I see that, like the specific boundaries that we might see that, and the way that I see it play out with my body based business clients is that You undercharge for your services. You do a lot of free exchanges, and you feel really uncomfortable charging a fair amount or even perhaps more than what your competitors are charging because perhaps you might be actually a lot better than them.

[00:05:51] More efficient, more effective. I know I definitely felt this, especially because a lot of the work that I do, you know, a lot of people compare it to therapy [00:06:00] and it is based on a somatic therapy in a lot of ways, but it’s completely different. And what was something that I’ve really had to get my head around is that, and I think my charge, my prices are extremely low for the market, like very, very good.

[00:06:18] And very, very fair. And even in that, I had to go through my own process of understanding that, okay, cool, if somebody is to do similar work towards a goal with a different practitioner, they’re actually going to end up spending more, but it’s going to, because they’re going to be doing it for a longer period of time.

[00:06:38] It’s going to take more to get the results, but it’s going to look like it’s cheaper because maybe per hour it appears to be cheaper if that’s the way that they’re looking at their investments. I don’t necessarily expect you to look at it like that the way that I’ve looked at it and the way that I charge and the way that I invite you to is to look at the [00:07:00] value and the effectiveness of what you’re bringing to the table because I want you to recognize what your expertise is and build in it’s not even your self worth because it’s like self worth and what you charge there.

[00:07:13] There’s like comparing apples to a motorbike. They’re completely unrelated. You can’t charge what you’re worth. You are a beautiful soul and human being who is worth love, light and all that beautiful stuff. And what you charge is just one aspect of sales like and business. They’re completely opposite.

[00:07:29] They just have nothing to do with each other. You might find yourself undercharging if you don’t feel an embodied sense of confidence, expertise, and authority in what you do. You might then miss out on a lot of income that you really do deserve and qualify for. And this is a. This is an example of a lack of boundaries around your prices and also around yourself and the way that you [00:08:00] perceive yourself, kind of what I would call internal boundaries, things that you are willing to let yourself believe and act upon and things that you’re not.

[00:08:12] The other thing that I notice that is A sticky one with boundaries and there’s a way that having a lack of boundaries really diminishes your ability to receive money is that you have reduced creativity. Creativity is required. When we’re going to be an entrepreneur, we’re here doing things differently, standing out, we’re creative people.

[00:08:37] I’m a Pisces son and people always said to me like, Oh, you’re so creative. You’re meant to be really creative. And I’m, I’m, I’m not in the traditional sense of like, I don’t paint. I don’t really do a lot of that like hands on type of creativity, but I’m extremely good creative problem solver. And I am creative in other ways.

[00:08:55] And I do love expression and dance and all of those beautiful creative things and [00:09:00] music. So, I noticed a very direct corre, um, correlation between how regulated and embodied I am and my creativity. As an entrepreneur, you’re going to use your creativity in so many ways. You’re going to do content writing.

[00:09:17] You’re going to build different programs. You’re going to do, build different products. You’re going to be. Creative problem solving around the different problems in your business or supporting your clients and all of these things. So if we do not have good boundaries, we end up having an increased level of stress and then also just emotional exhaustion.

[00:09:35] And then our nervous system goes into. One of those stress response and now your body isn’t putting energy towards being creative. It thinks it’s running away from a tiger. So you miss out on new opportunities for growth. You miss out on new connections with other people. You miss out on feeling embodied and happy.

[00:09:53] As you go through the day to day experience of building your business and you miss out on opportunities to [00:10:00] develop additional revenue streams. It is extremely important that you find supportive boundaries. Extremely important because you need creativity. You need to be able to look at your money and what you charge in a neutral way without trying to tie your worth as a human being into it.

[00:10:21] . You need to feel safe as you engage in your work so that your body feels safe, helping you pursue doing more of that because I know your heart wants to. And the last one I’m going to share from a client that I had. , and her kind of experience and what we went through, through together. But in this one, my beautiful client had a lack of boundaries around her client’s energy.

[00:10:48] This client does a lot of deep transformational work. It’s kind of spiritual companionship and things like that. , and emotional processing and trauma bonding and sorry, trauma [00:11:00] healing. And, uh, She’s been doing that type of space holding for decades now, but we were finding that when she would start thinking about signing clients, she would just kind of freeze up and she’s like, she just felt like she didn’t know how to do it.

[00:11:16] Um, it didn’t make sense. She couldn’t find the, she couldn’t find the energy to go ahead and actually do any of the things that would lead to clients. And I was kind of curious about this, , in a couple of different ways. So her and I were doing a session. She was a part of the body based business and her and I was sitting down from one of our sessions and we started thinking and talking about boundaries and we did somatic practice to understand where she begins and where another person ends.

[00:11:47] And in that experience, she had a really, really profound, deep release. There was tears and there was this exclamation [00:12:00] of finally understanding what it meant to be in her energy and not blend in with the energy of another person. She had spent so long blending with her friend’s energy or her family’s energy and supporting and helping them that her body.

[00:12:17] Only knew how to support people by taking on their thoughts and feelings and feeling that some of you guys call this empathy. Some of you guys call this intuition. Some of you guys might call this codependency. , but essentially what we’re talking about is if I do not have clear boundaries between me and my client, I can’t help them.

[00:12:38] And I hurt myself in the process only, not only because. I stop having enough perspective and space to be able to see what they’re going through from a neutral perspective and be able to serve them from that space. But also because what might happen is I [00:13:00] might. Overstep my own needs in order to serve my clients.

[00:13:05] This looks like round the clock availability, quick responses to messages, or just saying yes to anything that they may ask. It also looks like feeling like you’re doing a lot of emotional labor for your clients and really feeling like you’re on top of them. If we do not have strong boundaries in place, your clients are going to expect these things.

[00:13:25] It’s going to be normal and your body is going to perceive that, Oh, okay, well this is what it’s like when I have a client, I feel stressed. I feel like I have to do emotional labor. I feel like I lose pieces of myself. I feel like I’m always on call. That’s what your body perceives work to be. So of course it’s going to make it more difficult for you to see opportunities or find the emotions and the thoughts that are going to make having a business.

[00:13:53] easier. And so it’s really important to use these somatic practices and use these energetic practices [00:14:00] and use these like hands on practices to set boundaries around your availability, around how you respond to demands, around the type of energy and emotions that you take on from other people. Internal boundaries that are firm, that encourage you regulating your nervous system, or expressing your needs, or.

[00:14:21] Time blocking, you know, these are boundaries as much with others as they are with yourself It’s you saying I’m going to time block and following through on that as always this stuff is super nuanced as always This is very complex. And as always I’ve tried my best to share tidbits that you can take away in a very short episode so that you can implement this today so that you can plug in and be the embodied entrepreneur that you were born to be.

[00:14:51] If you haven’t already, I really recommend that you look at episode number 46. It’s called what your therapist doesn’t get about business using your nervous system to create [00:15:00] profitable 5k months without anxiety. And the reason I’m recommending it is because inside of this episode, you actually get to use how do you get to cover how to use therapy and why what I do is slightly different to therapy, how to use therapy and coaching to build a buddy based business.

[00:15:19] It also will cover what sustainable 5k months actually looks and feels like. And I’ll just take a caveat to say that. If you’re not at 5k months or if somebody know that, you know, isn’t at 5k months, you haven’t done anything wrong. This is one of the biggest, most difficult things to figure out in business.

[00:15:36] You’re going to be okay. You haven’t done anything wrong. You’re on the right path. Inside of this episode, you’ll also be able to Discern whether or not body based business is worth the investment for you. And you’ll learn the unseen aspects of your psyche and business that your therapist just cannot help you with.

[00:15:58] Of course, you will find the link [00:16:00] to that podcast down below in the show notes. Can’t wait to hear what you think about this one. Can’t wait to hear how you are going to put more boundaries in place, whether those are internal or external so that you can avoid overcommitment and burnout so that you can feel really good about charging your prices so that you can access more creativity and therefore more revenue streams and so that you can feel fulfilled and resource and available to take on more clients.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Sheridan: This practice is the one practice that I never miss when I want to increase my income. It will reveal in 90 seconds, more than therapy does in numerous years. By the end of this episode, you’re going to learn the one question you need to ask yourself to find out what is necessary for your financial freedom.

[00:00:33] What you absolutely have to know if you’re going to create financial freedom with ease instead of struggle. And the only embodiment practice that you need for this ease and financial freedom, no matter what other people say. So you can put the books down, put the podcast out, except for this one, and make money.

[00:00:51] So a couple of years ago. I like kind of some context for my story. I have had very [00:01:00] ups and downs and different experiences with money. You know, I’ve been working since I was 13. I’ve been in entrepreneurship in different capacities. Um since I was about probably 18 or 19, I’ve supported different entrepreneurs in different ways.

[00:01:13] And I kind of fluttered around in this whole entrepreneurship journey until. Um, after I did my, , trauma therapy training and discovered these tools. And after I did my yoga therapy training and discovered these tools, I just kind of like, you know, it was successful, but it wasn’t anything amazing. And this all that I’m about to share with you today is one of the things that I started implementing almost.

[00:01:46] I was almost unaware of the fact that I was implementing it. I just started doing it very intuitively. And also because I didn’t really know what else to do. To be completely honest with you, I felt really lost. [00:02:00] And I, I knew that I needed to increase my income. I knew that I wanted to, but I didn’t really know what else to do.

[00:02:05] So I just kind of used the tools that I had to do what I wanted. This comes from the tool that I’m sharing with you. I’ve been using it in different ways and really refining it and perfecting it since I was a yoga teacher. Now, for context, when I was teaching yoga, I. I was doing a lot of it by, uh, word of mouth, and most of my clients were private clients and I was really tired because I wasn’t charging a lot, um, I was really nervous to charge things, my income was extremely low compared to What it could have been and what it should have been.

[00:02:43] I felt guilty receiving money. Now, a lot has changed since then. Most importantly, I, my whole entire relationship with money and service has changed. And the way that I see entrepreneurship. I’ve been exposed a lot to the coaching industry, as well as the therapeutic industry, as well as [00:03:00] the spiritual industry.

[00:03:01] And I think that all of these different industries and like the norms within them have little gems of truth. But, And it’s kind of up to us to decide where we fit within them, what we believe to be true within them. And so I’m kind of pulling from all of these different places.

[00:03:18] There exists a very deep truth in that we have all of these different bodies in that we have a mental body, an energetic body, an emotional body, a physical body. And if you’re going for the yoga philosophy, a bliss body, and then we have our soul and What is important for us when we’re here, we’re talking about embodied entrepreneurship and we’re looking at it through the system of the nervous system.

[00:03:45] What’s important for us to understand is that our body has a relationship with the world. It understands that through something called neuroception. And this is like deeper, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down [00:04:00] below the unconscious, below the subconscious. It’s, it’s the deep way of the way our primal body relates with the world.

[00:04:06] It’s also a relationship that our emotion, like that is the underlying thing that influences how our emotions relate to things, how our physical body relates to things, how our mind relates to things that shapes our entire experience, right? And so. Everyone’s primal body or we’ll just say nervous system.

[00:04:26] Everyone’s nervous system has a different relationship with the world. You and I can look at the tree outside of me and have different feelings and thoughts related to that tree. We have a different relationship to it. I could buy you an ice cream and it will be different experience for you than it will be for me.

[00:04:44] I can give you 5, I can give you 500. We’re going to have a different experience related to that money. Right? But the thing is the same. And so, You, me and Becky down the block and Jessica over there and that person on Instagram can all sit down and say, I want to [00:05:00] bring in a thousand dollars this week and we’re all going to have a different relationship with that money and the process to bring that money in.

[00:05:09] And so, and that’s really what matters. And that’s why you. You look at all of these things online and books and things, and they all like how to make money, what, how to do this, you know, how to do your sales, how to sign clients like this workshop, this masterclass, understand this and you know, it’s all good information and it’s really fun to learn, but at the end of the day.

[00:05:30] What’s going to make a difference, it’s understanding your body’s relationship with that thing because that’s what is foundational, like that’s the foundation of your entire reality. The rest is just theory. The rest is just like things to study if you feel kind of like nerding out or you want a different perspective or something.

[00:05:51] The truth is what happens inside of your bones. The truth is what happens when the way that you breathe. The truth is what happens in the sensations in your chest. The truth is what [00:06:00] happens in below your thoughts, below your emotions and all of that. And it’s that truth that actually is going to discern how you need to bring.

[00:06:09] income in or how you don’t, or how you want to serve clients or how you want to, you know, structure your business, that that’s the truth. And so really, truly the one question that you need to ask yourself when you are looking to understand what is necessary for your financial freedom, it’s not. Going and reading the barefoot investor or the four hour work week or doing another masterclass or, or picking it, like, I don’t know, it’s not another mantra or a song or even a meditation practice.

[00:06:38] All of these things might be helpful at different times. The question that you need to ask yourself and really coming from a deeply contemplative embodied space, which is what I help my clients achieve inside of body based business so that they can get the answer to this question is. What is the story my body is telling me?

[00:06:59] [00:07:00] What is the story my body is telling me about bringing in financial freedom? And when you ask that from a space of contemplation, you’re going to get many different answers or perhaps nothing. I recently hosted a workshop here in Medellín, Colombia, where we had a small amount of women, and we asked ourselves this question.

[00:07:23] And… And I do this, you know, at least once or twice or five times a week with my clients and I’ve noticed the same thing to be true for them. That is true for me, which is sometimes we get an answer and it’s super clear, but it’s a thought answer. It’s not a truth answer. And sometimes we get. Uh, when I, okay, let me elaborate on that, meaning that it’s what we, what our, what we think the body is telling us, what we think is true and the body is kind of still telling us that, but it’s not coming from a place of deep resonant truth inside of our bones, inside of the depth of our being rather, it’s [00:08:00] like, Oh, I believe this is the way this kind of makes sense.

[00:08:02] This is logical. This is what I’ve learned. And that’s good information to have. It’s not necessarily wrong. We get to decide how we use that information and we get to experiment with that. What happens over time when I work with my clients and when we practice and we use these tools, we get to the point where we can ask, what is the story my body is telling?

[00:08:27] And we are able to discern what is noise, what are shoulds, what is coming from other people, um, what is limiting. And then what is empowering and what is the truth for you because your path to financial freedom is going to be different to mine because we have different strengths. We have different circumstances.

[00:08:47] We have different desires. Our soul is here doing different things. Our traumas are different. Our limitations are different. You and I both have limitations. It’s fine. It’s actually good to have limitations. It tells us how to focus our energy, [00:09:00] but. They’re different, they’re very different. And so deep down inside you have this body based blueprint to success.

[00:09:09] And we want to still the water of noise inside of you so much that we can access that truth. We want to still the thoughts we want to learn to discern which is true and which is not access that body compass, refine the way that you listen to it, take action on it, and then you come into financial freedom and ease.

[00:09:27] And we do this through practice and we do this through action and we do this through implementation and you learn all of this in body based business. But you can, you can start now. You don’t. You can start now. So I’ve already kind of told you this, but just to recap, ’cause I’m going down my notes. The one thing that you must know if you wanna create financial freedom and ease is that your body has a relationship with money.

[00:09:52] Your body has an attachment to money in the same way that has an attachment to your parents or to your loved ones. Your body has an entire experience [00:10:00] with money. And what I really want to encourage is that your body actually becomes so neutral with money. So, we’re looking towards money neutrality, not assigning it a specific level of success or safety, even though they are related, I understand that, but we want you to find a place of neutrality because when you have neutrality, what happens is the noise inside kind of stills and we’re able to, from a very non attached place, find the keys.

[00:10:32] And I hate using that word because it sounds so coachy, right? But there are these little like keys inside that when you, you can act deep down in your body, you just, you just know, you just know, and you just, okay, yes, that’s the next step. That’s correct. You know what I’m talking about. And if you don’t keep listening, keep practicing this work, you’ll find it help.

[00:10:52] It helps to get to a place of neutrality because. When we are in a place of anxiously attached, oh my God, I have to have money. If I [00:11:00] don’t have it, what if it goes away? I’m not gonna be okay or avoidant. If I have money, I’m bad. I’m guilty. Um, I’m gonna get hurt. Or kind of more disorganized where you move in between the two.

[00:11:11] Then we have all of these feelings, thoughts, sensations and emotions that come up into the body that are, are not, they’re just not. That’s supportive. They, we have to move through them. We have to understand them. We have to sort them out. And what I would rather is that when you come from place of body, body, neutrality, money, neutrality, what you can do instead is understand that what that deep, deep, deep truth is inside of your, inside of you, you know, your path to financial free freedom and ease.

[00:11:50] I do have , a podcast episode on understanding your attachment to money. Number 17, the money mind connection, [00:12:00] exploring the impact of nervous system of the nervous system on financial wellbeing in this space, you’re going to, in this episode, you’re going to learn how to create an empowered relationship with money. The energetic subconscious and nervous system relationship that you have, and then begin to write this new money story.

[00:12:17] This is going to help you tap into the truth that you need inside of your body to access that financial freedom and ease. I’m going to share that link below in the show notes. But, before you go ahead and jump into that, my next… The next thing that I really want to share with you is the actual embodiment practice that you need for financial freedom and ease.

[00:12:40] It’s important to note here that this is a practice that is for you, for you, not anyone else. We’re not here trying to, you know, figure out what somebody else needs, um, to get it. We’re here to figure out what it is that you need to get it. No one else. And [00:13:00] so this is a practice that I’m going to outline.

[00:13:03] It is going to be absolutely impossible for me to guide you through it in the way that I would guide a client through it all in the way that I would guide myself through it just because of the context of this space. But I’m going to give you a basic idea so that you can begin to envision and understand what it might be like to begin to.

[00:13:21] Implement these embodiment practices in your life. And if when you ever enjoy me inside of body based business, or if in the future I ever have anything else, you will know a little bit more about what this looks like. Does that make sense? Okay, good. So let’s all take a couple of deep breaths,

[00:13:53] breathing into your body, breathing into your [00:14:00] belly,

[00:14:03] breathing into your, the back of your belly, the back of your neck.

[00:14:17] Beautiful. And in this embodiment practice, I want you to take a few really intentional moments to tap into the body. To notice what your feelings are, what your thoughts are.

[00:14:34] And we’re getting into the practice of being curious. We are here to be curious.

[00:14:49] We are here to learn.

[00:14:54] We are here to inquire. We are not necessarily here to understand. Not in [00:15:00] this practice, on this podcast.

[00:15:06] But once you have a feeling of an inventory of what is alive inside of your body at the moment, what emotions and what thoughts are here, take a few deep breaths and see if you can come more still. Become more neutral.

[00:15:25] Then from this place of neutrality, I want you to bring into mind the amount of money that you would like to bring in this month. The income that you would like to bring in this month.

[00:15:39] Getting very contemplative, getting very still, getting very curious.

[00:15:50] As you receive this number or this image or this thought or this feeling, we’re going to return back to that original question. You’re going to simply [00:16:00] ask, what is the story my body is telling me about achieving this?

[00:16:08] And some days there’s going to be a moment where it’s very clear. It’s telling me I need XYZ. That might be true. It makes sense to. Like to move forward on that and truth is probably going to feel expansive. There are going to be other moments where it says, I need X, Y, Z and it’s not true and it probably feels constrictive.

[00:16:36] There are going to be days where it says I’m not worthy or I would be bad or it’s not possible for me. And that tells us that we need to go down a path of healing around that. There are going to be other days where it says, I need to do this thing. You need to go and do it.

[00:16:55] There are going to be days when it feels numb and you don’t get anything. [00:17:00] And it’s also a sign that we need to go down and get inquisitive and curious about that. Possibly working with another person to help you do that, such as a coach, such as me. But as you practice over time and as you refine your ability to read this comfort, to read this compass, to read this blueprint.

[00:17:19] You are going to find financial freedom and ease. In the meantime, keep supporting yourself with these practices. Keep supporting yourself with the podcast. Once again, you will find a really supportive episode called the money mind connection, exploring the impact of the nervous system on financial wellbeing with the in the link will be in the show notes, setting you lots of financial freedom, lots of ease, less stress, less anxiety.

[00:17:47] And I’m here for, for you, your expansion and, and all of it. Thank you for listening.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Sheridan: This is the only episode you’ll ever need to listen to. If you are looking to create more money, to be able to invest in support by the end of the episode, you will know the truth about the full body. Yes. What you are saying, what you’re really saying when you say, I can’t afford this and how to cultivate an open receptive nervous system that can receive more income, more connection and more pleasure.

[00:00:44] I’m about to share with you a story of a moment and a decision and action that was extremely. Important for me a couple of years ago when I was considering an investment in my [00:01:00] business and myself and my own development, I was sitting on a sales call and I was asking about a program as I was one like being sold to in this situation.

[00:01:12] So I’m sitting on the sales call and I’m asking about this program. And I knew that at that time I was not ready to invest in it. And I also knew that it was my next step. It was the next. Kind of course and path that made sense. My mind did not like that. It had a lot of questions. The call time seemed complicated with my schedule and I was extremely busy with life and study.

[00:01:43] My mind kept telling me all of these really logical, really good reasons as to why it was incorrect for me to say yes to this program. But deep down, despite what my mind said, because I’ve cultivated such connection with my body, [00:02:00] something that I’m teaching, that I’m teaching you to do and that I teach you to do, I, I knew that it was, I knew that it was the best thing for me to do.

[00:02:08] I knew that I needed to invest in this thing, even though my mind was freaking out about it. The honest truth is that. One of your, one of our biggest responsibilities to our dreams is making the decisions that propel our dreams forward. And this includes investments. Honestly, I am very rarely the type of person to do things from a full body.

[00:02:31] Yes. And I’m much more the type of person to do things from 80 percent sure and 20 percent holy moly. I’m really scared. even honoring my emotional waves. And as a nervous system specialist, there is a truth that I anchor into in order to create income that supports me when I am making investments that I’m nervous about, or when I’m wanting to create income so that I can make investments.

[00:02:59] It all comes down [00:03:00] to understanding that our mind gives us stories that are both influenced by our nervous system. So depending on the nervous system state you’re in, you’ll have different thoughts and our thoughts then influence our nervous system. So our thoughts and have a feedback to our nervous system.

[00:03:20] And we have this two way street of communication. There are certain stories that we tell ourself that close off our nervous system from receiving. And it kind of plummets the body into dysregulation. When I say it closes off the nervous system from receiving, I, what I mean is that it puts us in a slight stress response.

[00:03:44] And when we’re in a stress response, we are averse to receiving from the outside world because in that moment we are perceiving that there is a, Say like a lack of safety one of the most common stories that we tell ourselves that Closes our [00:04:00] nervous system off from receiving and takes us further into dysregulation is the story.

[00:04:06] I can’t afford it

[00:04:14] This is Freya guys, you know her she is my co host She’s asking the questions that I know that you are asking as you guys both build body based businesses as embodied entrepreneurs and Yes, I hear you Maybe the money isn’t in your bank account or it doesn’t feel safe or supportive to invest right now.

[00:04:36] I, I hear you. I truly hear you. And like most things that are true in life, there is an important nuance to understanding how to step away from looking at those numbers and feeling like I can’t afford it. And stepping into and towards looking at your bank account, seeing the money in [00:05:00] there and saying, Let’s go.

[00:05:04] The nuance to that truth is that I can’t afford it has very little to do with the numbers in your bank account, even if it’s just a zero and a lot to do with how empowered you feel around money. So let’s just do a little test right now. I want you to take a few deep breaths

[00:05:28] and say, I can’t afford it in your body. Just notice what happens if you say to yourself a few times, I can’t afford it.

[00:05:41] What do you notice? Personally, I noticed that my jaw gets tight. My belly kind of twirls a little bit, and I have like a sensation coming to my chest that for me, this is the specific sensation I feel when I feel helpless. [00:06:00] Ooh, it’s actually hard and heavy and I want to not feel it anymore. So let’s change.

[00:06:05] What do you feel? Um, I’m going to do another one. What happens in your body when you say this isn’t available to me right now, but I will work on finding the funds to it. Say that a few times, see what happens in your body.

[00:06:28] Hmm. Personally, my chest lifts. I feel a smile on my face and my spine kind of like packs up with, I start having these thoughts already thinking about ways that I can bring this money in. These signs, the smile, the pack, the lift, the thoughts about possibility are signs of regulation, connection, empowerment.

[00:06:54] They are signs of a receptive and open nervous system. The type of nervous system that can [00:07:00] receive more income, more connection, and more pleasure, even when it feels and looks like you can’t afford it because your job is to be open to creation and possibility. It is not to close yourself to them. Your job is to open to receive, to open to more income, to open to more possibility, to open to more creation, to open.

[00:07:27] Now this is not a one time thing that we do and then we move on. No, this is a lifestyle. This is a practice. This is a muscle that we continuously use and strengthen. And the more that we come to that place of, I don’t know how, but I will, and I can, or even though I feel closed off and scared, I can do this.

[00:07:51] The more we do that, the more easily money flows to us. And this is, this isn’t like some, you know, like [00:08:00] esoteric spiritual thing, although that as well in some ways it is. Um, really literally that your emotional, mental, physical state changes. You see more opportunity to bring money in and you’re able to execute and really milk those opportunities so that you end up receiving more money flows to us.

[00:08:24] It flows through us and it stays with us. So right now, perhaps you’re considering buddy based business and you just really cannot feel comfortable making the investment. Okay. Your job right now is to open your body to I don’t want to now, but I will figure out how now is it’s not happening today, but I will figure out how I can figure out how, even though I struggled to believe in myself, I will figure out how, even though I’m really scared, I will figure out how, even though I have [00:09:00] questions, I will figure out how.

[00:09:03] And then without pushing into hustling or dysregulation, let that power light a fire under you and then pull on your ingenuity, your resourcefulness, your openness and receive receive slowly with devoted discipline, build up your income and savings. Even if it means that you need to get a job, there is no shame in that.

[00:09:30] Um, even if it means you need to change your expenses, there’s no shame in that. Ultimately at the end of the day, what I’m inviting you into is, first of all, the invitation to not sacrifice your peace and your nervous system for an investment. We don’t do that here, but most importantly, do not deny your desire and your responsibility to your dreams because right now in this moment you cannot see the how step into the feeling of I [00:10:00] can.

[00:10:01] And allow the external world to rise up to meet you. Step into body based business and learn the exact somatic blueprint that you need to turn on that metaphorical tap of abundance and never say, I can’t afford this again. Apply for body based business by booking your embodied sales call. You’ll find the link in the show notes.

[00:10:27] If you’re considering that call and you’re not quite sure you might be a little bit like Emily who avoided booking her call for months because she was burnt out and business was heavy and she wasn’t even sure if she wanted to continue. TRANSCRIPT:
[00:00:00] Your nervous system will create self sabotage until you prepare it not to. By the end of this episode, you will learn the sneaky nervous system limit that keeps you worried, anxious, and stressed. The only way to make your heart’s desires become manifest using the body and the three steps to stop self sabotage using nervous system regulation.

[00:00:35] There is a fundamental truth that underlies this entire episode. And if there’s anything that you learn about the nervous system, I want you to learn this. The nervous system will prioritize a familiar discomfort over an unknown comfort. Essentially, your nervous system will keep you comfortably uncomfortable no matter how dire the situation [00:01:00] is.

[00:01:00] It would rather keep you in an unknown, very, very bad situation. Um, instead of venturing out into the, sorry, it would rather keep you in a known very, very bad situation over venturing out into the unknown, no matter how good that unknown is most likely going to be, no matter how good it’s going to be according to what we see in our mind.

[00:01:27] If your nervous system perceives it as unknown, it’s going to do everything it can to try and avoid that. Now. I don’t want you to start thinking, Oh, but it’s against me or something. No, I think of it as like this, like, like guardian angel trying to protect you and support you. However, sometimes there can be a miscommunication between the information that the angel has versus like what you and your logical mind.

[00:01:56] And so when that happens. We kind [00:02:00] of run into something called self sabotage. Now, I don’t have a better word for this. It’s not the best word. I, I’ve opened, I’m not open to suggestions, but I do like this word because essentially it means that there is an essence, a part of yourself that is sabotaging what another part of you wants.

[00:02:16] So When I looked up in Google what self sabotage was just for this episode, I found it is when people do or do not do things that block their success or prevent them from accomplishing their goals.

[00:02:33] It is always well intentioned. It is not bad and wrong. Every single person is going to self sabotage in some way. It’s natural and normal. And there are a couple of reasons why your nervous system will self sabotage and keep you in that familiar discomfort instead of pushing and propelling you towards An unknown that [00:03:00] is going to be much more beneficial for you and the world.

[00:03:05] Let’s dive into them. So this is the sneaky little nervous system limit that keeps you worried and anxious and stressed. And I’ve done an episode on this before and we’ll continue talking about it. It is the upper limit. The upper limit is the upper nervous system level that basically says this is how much pleasure and success my nervous system feels safe receiving.

[00:03:34] We all have a set point of success and pleasure and money and intimacy and just joy that we feel safe receiving. It’s. Usually linked to the amount that we have received before, which is usually linked to the, and like nothing bad has happened, which is usually linked all the way back into our ancestors and very much kind of the state of our nervous system as [00:04:00] it was kind of being developed.

[00:04:02] Um, in our mother’s womb, this is kind of like your overall mental and emotional state. Now what happens is we tend to want to evolve as human beings. And so we have this drive to evolve yet at the same time, our nervous system has a set upper limit of okay. Historically, I’ve noticed that this is pretty much as good as it gets.

[00:04:31] I’m feeling pretty good. Like I’m alive. This is good. And I have noticed that. Either I just do not know what it feels like to have more pleasure and success and money and intimacy and therefore it’s unknown, therefore I perceive it as unsafe or I’ve noticed that things have felt really good before and then after that specific thing felt really good, there was a disaster, something happened, I don’t know, maybe you were a [00:05:00] kid and everything was feeling really good and then your parents separated or your dad lost his job or There was a political disruption in your country or something like this.

[00:05:11] And so what happens is your body, especially as a child where everything is kind of about me, it starts to think, Oh, okay, this is, this is it. Like this is the amount of pleasure and success that is safe before something bad happens or before. I just don’t understand it and I don’t, haven’t felt it before and because I haven’t felt it before.

[00:05:33] It must be. Unknown. It must be unsafe. I’m going to avoid feeling it because I’m not sure if I can survive through it. It’s very, very simple. It’s very, very primal. And what happens is it’s not like our nervous systems can send us an email and be like, Oh yeah, this is like, you’ve reached your capacity.

[00:05:53] Good work. Um, let’s just hang out here for a while. No, it doesn’t do that. What it does [00:06:00] is Um, it sends you signals and messages in other ways. It sends you things such as worry when you’re worrying and when you’re planning. It sends you things such as you judging yourself. It sends you things such as you just feeling heavy and, and shameful and like guilty.

[00:06:21] Like if I felt guilty cause things are going well, , It sends you things such as you bickering or fighting with your family or creating drama in your friend circle. It sends you things such as judging others. It suddenly invents all of these problems in your life that you kind of know how to solve.

[00:06:38] Like your car breaks down and you spend ages solving that and you, it just sends you all of these little problems. And you kind of create these problems, you create these fights, you don’t realize that you’re doing it. You create these fights, you create the problem with the, the window cleaner, and you create all of these little problems that your body knows how to [00:07:00] solve because it’s solved them before in order to avoid solving the bigger problem of how can I feel more safe with this much pleasure, this much success, this much intimacy, this much confidence, this much love, right?

[00:07:15] And so what you’re gonna. What I want to invite you to do is just kind of notice like, where am I complaining? Where am I complacent? Where am I worrying? Where am I judging myself or others? Where am I creating problems in my life that really just do not, they’re not problems. They don’t need to be solved.

[00:07:34] That is one of the ways that we self sabotage. And it’s one of the ways that we avoid expanding our upper limit. We’re going to talk about how to expand that upper limit in a second.

[00:07:44] Sometimes the upper limit isn’t necessarily connected to a specific fear. Sometimes it’s just, I need to get used to this new level of abundance and success. However, sometimes what [00:08:00] happens is we self sabotage because we’re at this upper limit. Because what we want. Our body perceives as unsafe. So I’ll say that again.

[00:08:10] We self sabotage because what we want, our body perceives as unsafe. For example, sometimes we, like you want a specific thing. Let’s say that you really want to make, let’s just go with 5k months. You really, really want 5k months, right? Or maybe you want 10 K months or 20 K months, and you want these higher numbers because.

[00:08:33] That’s what would make you feel really supported in leaving your job or having a baby. So we have this desire. But sometimes what happens is the body says, no, I’ll lose it. I’ll lose it. And then I’ll have a kid and I won’t have a job and I could never maintain this specific thing. And then I’ll lose it.

[00:08:57] And then I’ll be heartbroken and then I won’t know what to do. And then it will [00:09:00] be worse than the last time that I lost it. It will be absolutely awful. Or let’s just say you want a really nice new car. Or you want some really nice new clothes or you want to be able to take Tuesday afternoons off because you create your own schedule.

[00:09:19] You can want that. However, if your body perceives that you having that is going to equal your friends and family being envious of you or judging you, you’re not gonna, your body isn’t going to feel safe giving you thoughts, feelings, and emotions that are going to propel you to get there. Or you can say you want to sign three more clients this month, but if you’re already tired and your body’s perceiving that, Oh, if I sign three more clients this month, I’m going to have to show up more and I’m going to be more tired than your body is not going to propel you to, to achieve that goal.

[00:09:54] Or you won’t have enough time, right? It’s going to feel like it’s seeing all of the problems with you [00:10:00] getting what you want. And if it doesn’t, if it perceives any type of resistance around that, or any type of problem with you getting what you want, it is not going to give you the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and impulses.

[00:10:09] To get that thing, it’s going to give you the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and impulses that actually avoid that. A. K. A. Now, there’s a drama in my family. Now I’m fighting with my best friend. Now I’m spending my time figuring out taxes. Now I’m planning. Now I’m just anxious. Now I’m like doing all of these things, right?

[00:10:28] There was one that came up. Recently, uh, for a couple of different clients and I have my own experience with this as well, which is like, and maybe I’ll do a, I will do a podcast on this. I have noticed, I’m going to try and tell the story. Like it’s three of us. Perhaps sometimes we feel unsafe to earn money because we think it’s, we’re going to lose it or we’ll be intimate with too many other people.

[00:10:58] So.[00:11:00]

[00:11:05] So the way that this can play out very specifically in business as well is like, for example, if you feel that it’s, if your body feels that it’s unsafe to earn money, maybe cause you’ll lose it. Maybe cause you’ll be, too, too seen by other people, too intimate with other people. What happens is you might get on a cell call and you go in with like the best energy possible you have.

[00:11:26] You’ve just like prepared, you’ve got this, you’re, it’s going to be amazing. You come in. And then what happens at the end of the call, when you’re getting towards that moment where you’re talking about money and the person is about to enroll, maybe there’s like an anxious part of you that comes in and makes tiny little changes, either in your posture and your energy in the way that you speak or in the things that you offer makes little changes and sabotages that call.

[00:11:51] And both of you walk away like, Oh no, it wasn’t the best fit, but you’re thinking why kind of like what happened there? [00:12:00] And it’s simply because your body didn’t feel like it was safe to bring that client on. So you put in all of this effort and you didn’t actually get what you needed to receive. And then you’re more tired and we go down and we snowball down there.

[00:12:17] This is Freya. She is my assistant co host and she’s building her business alongside you and asking the questions that I know you guys are already asking. It is a really good question. So what do we do about it? I did promise you three steps to stop self sabotage with nervous system regulation. , so he goes, what do we do to increase our upper limit?

[00:12:42] To move through the barriers of what our body perceives as safe and bring coherence between what your heart and mind wants and what your body perceives as safe and bring manifest all the things that you want. There are three main [00:13:00] steps that I like to use what I’m using with every client. And you can focus on just using one of them, or you can focus on using all of them at the same time.

[00:13:08] But the first one is to increase feelings of safety in our day to day life. So for example, if one of the reasons that your body doesn’t feel safe to give you what you like is because you are tired and you are really busy and you’re running around and it’s like, well, if I’m going to sign more clients, then I’m going to be more tired.

[00:13:26] Then what we need to do is increase feelings of safety in your day to day life so that your body begins to say, okay. I can hold and do this amount of activity or this amount of connection or receive this amount of money. Like I feel good receiving and doing and being this version of myself. It feels safe when it has a baseline safety and nourishment with what it has, [00:14:00] then it starts to begin to kind of flourish, grow and expand naturally.

[00:14:07] One of the ways we do this so much and it’s so important that I’ve made it step two is to increase the resources that we have. That make us feel like we can do hard things. So increase the amount, when I say resources, resourcing is like something that helps you feel really safe and empowered and grounded and good.

[00:14:31] It’s just something that makes you feel like you can do hard things or you can hold hard emotions or you can feel good today, right? A resource is my cat, which you may have been… Hearing me out because she’s very impatient at the moment and wants lots of attention because she helps me feel, she helps me feel good, you know, she helps me feel nice in life.

[00:14:55] That’s a resource. So we want to increase our resources and the way that we [00:15:00] use our resources so that we feel that we can do more hard things. And we have to actually go out and do those hard things as well. And what we’re doing is we’re increasing the capacity of our nervous system to move into the unknown and move into the difficulties and then come back to a safe space where it feels nourished.

[00:15:23] And that helps it feel like, Oh, I can stretch into this unknown. I can do these new things because I know how to look after myself. I know that I’m going to return to a home base. I know that I have all of these things that support me in venturing out into more difficult things and being okay at the end of the day.

[00:15:45] The third step to stop self sabotage is to prime the nervous system for success by using somatic tools. So this really speaks specifically to make to the point where I spoke about how. [00:16:00] We can want something in our mind and heart, but our body might perceive it to be unsafe. We need to prime the nervous system to feel safe receiving that specific thing before we actually receive it.

[00:16:13] So if we can help the body feel safe receiving that thing, then when we go. Out into the world, we have experienced the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and impulses to arrive to that thing. Then we stabilize feeling safe with that thing, and then we can move on to the next. I do have an episode it’s episode 45.

[00:16:35] It’s called three ways to prime your body and nervous system to sign more clients. This episode is going to be perfect for that last step. priming the nervous system. If you’re not working on client signing more clients, then. Add in a different, add in a different goal. You’re still going to use the same tools.

[00:16:52] I use this for literally all of my goals, everything in life, everything in the episode, you’re going to [00:17:00] learn the really, really often ignored and most important part to sign more clients or achieve your goals. You’re going to learn the simple daily actions you cannot miss. If you would like to increase your income this month and a somatic practice too.

[00:17:15] prime your nervous system for more clients or whatever your goal is.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Are you ready to finally make 5, 000 a month in your coaching business in the next 30 days or less? By the end of this episode, you will know the one question you need to ask yourself to make 5, 000 this month, the missing piece of your sales strategy and the number one nervous system foundation to create more momentum

[00:00:37] This episode is a really good one. You’re going to want to listen to the end of this one, because we’re going to cover the most important thing for creating momentum and pleasure. It’s also the, like, for me it’s the most fun. Big fan, big fan of that one. So, basically, I want you to think of every single desire that [00:01:00] you’ve ever had.

[00:01:01] And, Then I want you to think of, okay, so like you’ve, you have a desire that you’ve ever had, right? We have different relationships with that desire. I can, I’m going to make it really simple, but, and we’re going to bring it into something a little bit, like, more contextual. I can desire a new car, or I can desire something as simple as an ice cream.

[00:01:29] I can just want that. Right? In my head, I’m like, yes, I want that. Maybe even in my heart, I want that. I want that. My body may or may not want that, even though my heart and my head want that. It’s the same with like a lover. You may really desire really intimate partnership with all of your heart. And logically in your head, you know, you just, you think about it.

[00:01:53] You want it. It makes sense. This makes sense, but your body. Maybe [00:02:00] closes off to other people, your shoulders go in, you have that eye distance or you find yourself getting defensive or reactive in relationships when they get a little bit too close or really worried and anxious when they get a little bit far away.

[00:02:16] Your body, your nervous system has a relationship with the things that you desire. You’ve done that before. You’ve had those moments where you’re like, I really want this thing, but for some reason I can’t just like get past myself. For some reason, I keep making these mistakes. And for some of us, sometimes it feels like we go on autopilot.

[00:02:36] Um, for some of us, sometimes it feels like we almost like lose control and we’re like, Oh, I don’t know why I did that, but I did it. And if I had known. And for some of us sometimes, we just can’t see another way around. And I’d say that’s probably the most common. You just, we have this desire, and we can’t really see another way to get there, or the correct way to get there.[00:03:00]

[00:03:01] We don’t know how to get there in a way that makes sense, or that doesn’t exhaust us, or whatever it is. Or that doesn’t feel icky, or that doesn’t make us feel guilty, or whatever. We sit and we say, I just don’t know how to get there. And a lot of this happens with, if I asked you right now, okay, how are you going to make 5, 000 in the next 30 days or less?

[00:03:21] You might say to me, I don’t really know how. I don’t, I don’t really know how. And that’s probably why you’re listening to this podcast, right? Because you want to learn how to do it. Mm. And so the first thing, because the how for some of you people is going to be different, right? I have a client that I was just speaking with right now, and for her how is that she went to a networking event, she was invited onto a panel, and now she’s going to pitch her services.

[00:03:50] I have another client who I spoke with this morning, who had a similar situation where she did an event, and she was a speaker at an event. I have another client who really likes doing connection calls and sells her [00:04:00] services on Instagram. And I have another client, Who does women’s circles and sells her services through women’s circles.

[00:04:05] So she gets to co host a women’s circle with a local,, like wellness center. So the, how is going to be a million different things, but none of those things are going to be available. None of your specific ways of seeing how are going to be available to you unless you ask yourself this specific question, the specific question.

[00:04:26] Is not going to be oriented towards your heart or your logical thinking mind. We’re going to orient it towards your body. Now, if you’ve ever done any type of expansion core with me and if you’ve ever worked with me, then You’re going to understand what I mean when you say kind of like, I want you to bring this question or you’ve done any type of embodiment practice is I want you to bring this question down into your body.

[00:04:51] And that might be a little bit hard to do on a podcast. And if that’s the case, you’re invited to book an embodied sales call. We’ll do a similar practice that goes more in depth [00:05:00] where you will answer this question. And if your answers for who this question align with what I do, then we’ll talk about working together.

[00:05:07] But let’s just give it a go here and now to see what we can find. Okay. I want you to take a few breaths and question and connect with your body. And I want you to think of your goal. The thing that you want. For the sake of this podcast, we’re going to make it 5, 000 made in the next 30 days or less.

[00:05:29] Just holding your goal. Awareness on your body, awareness on your breath.

[00:05:42] And, As you ask this question, your job isn’t to get a specific answer, it’s to notice what comes up.

[00:05:54] You’re going to ask,

[00:05:59] How [00:06:00] do I make 5, 000 in my coaching business in the next 30 days or less?

[00:06:11] And some of you, if you contemplate this for long enough, you’re going to notice thoughts. Some of you are going to notice tension in your body. Some of you are going to notice emotions come up now and later on in the day. And some of you are going to have hows that come up. Oh, I can sell this, I can do that, I can ask this person.

[00:06:34] And some of you are going to have other thoughts of, Oh, well, I would do this, but I’m worried about what they’re going to think about me. Or it feels blank and numb. Whatever it is that you have come up. Unless it is a very clear, straight line to bringing that income in,

[00:06:55] that is a barrier to your success that your body is putting. Even if it feels [00:07:00] like there’s nothing. Even if it feels like you can’t. Especially if it feels like you can’t. Especially if you ask that question and you didn’t get a clear answer. Those are your barriers to success. And we need to understand those barriers to success and where they really come from and what wisdom they hold.

[00:07:19] Because they are like the murky mud between you and connecting with your somatic intelligence. The somatic intelligence that literally runs through your entire body and wants to insert you into the places where you are able to use your God given gifts to do good things in the world and be paid abundantly for it.

[00:07:42] So this is the one question. Take that away. Let me know how it goes when you ask, like if you have any questions around that because it’s an embodiment of practice and I really, I’m trying to give you a little bit of a practice and a tool and an awareness in a platform that’s extremely difficult to do.

[00:07:59] Usually when I do [00:08:00] this with clients, we’re sitting in a contemplative meditation with each other and there’s a lot of space and safety. And so the answers we get are extremely different to the ones that you’re going to get right now. I’m trying to be generous. So here we go. So the next thing, the missing piece of your cell strategy is that it is not a somatic cell strategy.

[00:08:18] It’s not simple and it’s not focused. Nervous system aware strategy is going to feel really fun to execute. It’s going to play on your gifts, what excites you, and it’s going to. Limit how much you need to kind of go into your limitations, right? So if you’re really afraid of being seen when you’re going to develop a somatic cell strategy that feels safe to get out there and be visible to the people that want to purchase from you, Um, without feeling like you’re exposing yourself too much each day, right?

[00:08:59] [00:09:00] And so the somatic cell strategy needs to be something that you can show up into and feel like you are selling something that you are an expert in. Like it’s, it’s this embodied experience. Like it’s this firmness in your bones. It’s this firmness and it’s like the way that you speak. It’s the confidence that you work with.

[00:09:17] It’s this embodied sense of this is what I sell. I’m really freaking good at it. And I can, like, I just, I’ve got this. It’s this somatic sense that is tangible that you can feel. Feel that you can touch that the people around you look at you go in there. She knows what she’s freaking doing. That’s that is it’s the somatic.

[00:09:34] That’s what a somatic cell strategy is. And so part of it is understanding, well, what is it that I do? And part of it is understanding, well, what is it, how do I want to sell this in a way that makes me light up the way that feels like I’m just connecting with people. And it’s important here, and we have another episode that you are going to need to listen to, I’m going to link it below, and it’s called Why You Need to Throw Away Your Sales Script.

[00:09:55] And we’re talking about what this, a little bit more about what this somatic sales strategy [00:10:00] is. And it’s really coming from that regulated nervous system where we want to connect with people. We want to help them. So a somatic style strategy is regulated, it’s embodied, you have an authority. And it is simple and focused.

[00:10:19] Because a regulated nervous system has simple, focused, potent energy. If we think all the way back to the elements, if you go back, I think episodes 37 to 40, we talk about the elements of the world and how they relate to our nervous system. As an embodied entrepreneur with a somatic cell strategy, you want to be evoking these benevolent elements of groundedness and clarity.

[00:10:40] In Ayurvedic medicine, we call this sattva, these clear, wise, embodied sense of security, of confidence. of compassion for self and others Of connection And [00:11:00] That sapvic space is very simple and focused energy is very simple and focused So your sales strategy also needs to be simple and focused now for a lot of people that work with me We will work on selling one offer most of the time for the four months that we work together Because It helps us refine our sales process more because we’re just focusing on one thing and we get more information than if we were to focus on a broad spectrum of things.

[00:11:32] Now, I have clients who don’t like doing that and they will sell numerous things or they’ll sell numerous things after they work with me but they’re still using the somatic sales strategy so it’s going to be more effective.

[00:11:44] It’s a focused energy, so we’re focusing, okay, like I’m a projector in human design, I’m not interested in spending a lot of energy running around doing things for no reason. So in order to use potent nervous system energy and still [00:12:00] spend time with your friends and your family and making tacos and going out and dancing and doing all your hobbies

[00:12:08] and studying and and we’re going to make sure all of the actions inside of our business support selling that. So that you can bring money in and feel more nourished in every single thing that you do.

[00:12:19] Yes, exactly. If we’re not executing, what are we doing? It’s great to talk about all of these things, but we need to execute them. It’s great to think about them. It’s great to plan them. It’s great to feel them in your body. But we need to… Execute, right? You’re completely right. So how do we execute for momentum?

[00:12:40] And by the way guys, if you’re new to the podcast, this is Freya. She is my little co host who is asking the questions that you’re asking. , while she builds her business along you guys, anxiety free. So, how do we execute for momentum? We bring in pleasure. No, I don’t mean sex. We bring in pleasure. Nervous system, your nervous [00:13:00] system is regulated by pleasure.

[00:13:02] Your nervous system, it’s… to do a couple of things. Number one, run away from stress and number two, pursue pleasure, things that feel good. So not only does evoking pleasure, so looking for pleasure and prioritizing feeling pleasure in your body actually decrease your stress response, decrease your cortisol and make your body feel safer to pursue the actions that need to be taken in order to build your business.

[00:13:28] But it. It does, it does, it does two things. One, it makes it feel safer. And two, it actually makes us want to do it more because we naturally want to pursue that pleasure. So every single thing that you’re doing inside of your business needs to include pleasure. Make it fun. Don’t do anything that’s boring.

[00:13:45] Yeah, we have to do admin tasks. I get bored. Like I was just saying to a friend of mine this morning, I was like, I was working yesterday. I was bored. And so it’s my job when I notice myself getting bored or I’m scared of doing something to pull pleasure in. [00:14:00] You can do this by listening to different, um, podcasts as you do admin work, or like music, having special playlists, having a special type of coffee, using essential oils.

[00:14:08] You can, you know, I have come from a background of Tantra yoga, so I use a lot of breath work and, my senses, you know, I’m looking out the window right now at this really beautiful red bird. Like it’s, it’s so red and it’s in this beautiful green tree and I just look at that and breathe that in and I bring pleasure into each moment.

[00:14:29] So, and that might be a topic for another podcast, but how can you bring pleasure in? How can you bring pressure into every single thing that you do? And especially when you are doing something that is a little bit more difficult, or you like to procrastinate it, you don’t like doing it. Can you do something that I call a pleasure sandwich?

[00:14:50] Oh my god, the pleasure sandwich is my favourite thing to do. This is how I have had so many like sales conversations because I used to hate talking about [00:15:00] selling my services. So I started doing this thing called the pleasure sandwich, which was like whenever I mentioned my service to somebody, or what I did, um, or like had a conversation about how I can help people, beforehand I would do something really, really funny.

[00:15:12] Pleasurable, like just pleasurable, just for the sake of it being pleasurable. And then afterwards I would have to do something that’s pleasurable and you have to make time for it. You cannot cheat out of it. It’s right before and right after. And for me, for a long time, it was coffee. Um, and sometimes it’s like listening to some music or watching a little bit of Netflix, like something that just evokes pure pleasure and joy and goodness.

[00:15:34] That’s your job. When you can build pleasure in, you will execute with more momentum. You will regulate your nervous system and you will be a thousand steps closer to finally making five thousand dollars a month in your coaching business in the next 30 days. You’ll find that episode below on why you need to throw away your sales strategy and what and how to create your somatic sales strategy instead and I [00:16:00] can’t wait for you to hear it.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] Every single human has a desire
inside to be worthy, but your business is not the vessel with which you are
going to meet that need. by the end of this episode, you will know the missing
piece between your therapeutic work, business development, and the worthiness
wound, the truth about charging what you’re worth and the unseen connection
between worthiness, love and money, and how to use that to double your income
and your impact.

[00:00:42] So I was listening
to a podcast yesterday. And it came after I was actually on a call with a
client of mine. We’re talking about being worthy. She had recently finished an
art show and she was having a lot of thoughts about like, is this good enough?
Is my work good enough? Um, you [00:01:00]
know, is my marketing strategy good enough?

[00:01:02] Did people like it
enough? Am I going to be able to, is this working type thing? When we went
deeper, we discovered that is this working was really coming from the fear of,
am I good enough? Am I worthy enough? Do I, Provide enough value and that
earlier that morning I’d listened to a podcast and I actually really liked this
podcast, but the guy said something that I really didn’t agree with.

[00:01:27] And he talked about
how we want to be creating inside of the work that we do, like we want to be,
he was talking about how, like how to be confident, right? How to be confident
in your work. And all that. And he basically said, you know, the way that we
become confident in our work is by providing skills that of our value to
people.

[00:01:49] That’s how we know
that we are worthy. His theory or his argument is that if we can learn how to
do things in a way that provides value to other people, [00:02:00] then we become a valued member of society and we have
worth. And. He’s not totally wrong. He’s just asking a, he’s answering the
question. Am I worthy and how to become more worthy?

[00:02:18] It actually doesn’t
really, it shouldn’t really exist. It’s a silly question. It’s not silly if
you’re asking it, but it’s silly in that the answer is so damn obvious. And so
he’s not wrong in that. How do I become a more valued member of society? How do
I provide more value to society is for some people in some circumstances going
to mean that they need to develop more skills that bring value to that society.

[00:02:45] But value isn’t
based on the skills that you have. Value can just also be you being you. Value
can be the smile that you have. Value can be your perspective, the way that you
see things. It’s a little bit value is more nuanced than that. [00:03:00] But he was trying to answer the question.
Am I worthy or am I enough by answering the question?

[00:03:06] how can I bring more
value to society and This is that missing piece between therapy and a lot of
personal development and a lot of professional development That just we just
you guys are running around in circles trying to figure out the answer to this
question It’s, it’s silly. It’s not neat. It’s not needed.

[00:03:24] It’s like a lot of
pain that we go through trying to figure out if I’m worthy when you can’t
answer that question. How can I possibly articulate to you your worth as a
human being? It’s like trying to, how could you tell a baby, how could you tell
a baby and articulate how beautiful the baby is, the essence of that soul
inside of that baby?

[00:03:45] How could I possibly
tell that to you? How could I possibly express that with my words, which are so
limiting. If you think about you on this earth, incarnated soul, some universe
or source or God or [00:04:00] goddess,
something kind of. I took out a hand and put you there and you are worthy
because you are worthy.

[00:04:07] Like that’s it. You
are worthy because you are here because you are, you are worthy because you
are, you are because you are, because you are worthy. It’s, it’s just, you’re
beautiful. And I can say this in this, you know, podcasts that I’m recording at
my desk on a Sunday afternoon. Um, and I can say it to you over and over again.

[00:04:30] And I’m actually
never going to convince the part of you that doesn’t believe me. And I don’t
need to. You get to mistrust my worthy, that my argument that we are worthy. In
fact, I have a part that listens to this and hears this and has had so many beautiful
experiences where I rest so deeply inside of my worthiness.

[00:04:49] And I still wonder
some days, am I good enough? Because the truth is everyone has this wound. Am I
worthy? We have this wound. And it’s okay to [00:05:00]
have this wound because it’s just one of those core human wounds that we have
in a society that we live in, where it always makes us doubt ourselves and
tells us that we need to be more this and less that in order to be X, Y, Zed
good enough, right?

[00:05:14] But you’re worthy
simply because you are. And you might need to go and look at a tree and really
feel you as a human being to understand your worth. And you might need to go
and, and pray or meditate. In order to feel this, I cannot explain it to you with
words, but trust me that it’s there and you will find it through a regulated
nervous system.

[00:05:37] And so that’s why
when we have these little questions, we ask these questions of like, is it good
enough? Am I good enough? I don’t like these questions because you can’t answer
them because you can’t convince the parts of you that are doubting that they
are because the part of you that doubts its job is to doubt.

[00:05:57] And you, it’s your
job to hold it and say, I see that you’re [00:06:00]
doubting and yeah, you are. And I love you. And I’ll keep reminding you until
the day that we die because I have enough space for your doubts. I have enough
love for your doubts. I have enough confidence and clarity and compassion for
you and all of your doubts and all of your fears.

[00:06:16] And it’s all welcome
here and you’re still worthy. I don’t have to get rid of your doubts in order
to be worthy. You are worthy and your doubts are too. And so when we have these
conversations such as Oh, I want to charge what I’m worth. Like what, what are
you even trying to say? That’s what are you trying to say?

[00:06:35] You can’t charge
what you’re worth. Your worth is infinite and I can’t charge infinite. So don’t
charge what you’re worth, charge what feels appropriate for your nervous system
to receive what is on the line with the market, um, kind of value and what your
clients feel comfortable paying and you feel comfortable receiving charge based
on.

[00:06:56] Strategy, both
somatic and [00:07:00] kind of that more
logical external strategy. What is my nervous? What can my buddy get behind and
what’s the market doing? Charge on that. Your worth is independent. Your worth
doesn’t have nothing to do with what’s going on in your business. And that’s
the thing. That’s the problem is that so many of us try to somehow answer this
question of, am I worthy using our business?

[00:07:24] In the same way that
we try and use our relationships to answer the question, we think, if I can
just make this much money or achieve this thing or be on that podcast as a
guest, or if I can win this award, or if I can coach as many people, or if I
can have this collaboration or if I can have this many followers, if I can do
this thing, then I will be worthy.

[00:07:43] And the answer is
no. Then when you get to that place, you will also doubt if you’re worthy
because you are a human being and we all have a core worthiness wound. You ever
had that? Have I had that accomplished something? You’re like, yeah, it’s going
to feel so good when I get there. And then you get there and you’re like, okay,
cool.

[00:07:58] What’s next? I still
doubt [00:08:00] myself. Right. And so there is
this part of you that what this, there’s part of you that doubts your
worthiness and it projects that onto love and it projects that onto money. And
there’s this kind of unseen connection that is not, that is seldom talked
about. And what happens is if we look at the part of ourself for most of us,
and there’s going to be nuance and you are excited to learn about what this
feels like for you.

[00:08:33] But for most of us,
what’s going to happen is we have a part of us that’s like, okay, I’m not sure
if I’m worthy. Maybe this part of us was developed when we were a kid, we
didn’t do something right. And so we internalize the idea or like that we were
to blame, but there was something wrong with us.

[00:08:51] Something didn’t go
quite right. Something was very uncomfortable and we internalize that it was
something wrong with us. And we did that [00:09:00]
because children do that because it helps provide a sense of control. Because
in my head, if I can fix my worthiness. Then I can secure my safety. And so by
doubting whether or not we are worthy, what we are actually doing is providing
a very important sense of security against the groundlessness and uncertainty
of the world.

[00:09:28] Because for most of
us, especially as children, feeling into the reality of the groundlessness. And
uncertainty of the world is extremely scary and we would rather not do it. So
our mind creates all of these patterns and beliefs that stop us from doing it.
And one of those is that our mind helps us direct energy into the question.

[00:09:48] Uh, am I worthy
helps us avoid the groundlessness that we live in and what it does, if we
really connect with [00:10:00] that part of
ourselves, and you’re welcome to go and do this in a meditation, but I’m going
to save you a little bit of time as we often find that. And this has been true
in every single client that I’ve ever done this with, so over hundreds at this
point is that that part of us, really what they want is appreciation, love, and
security, appreciation, love, and security.

[00:10:23] That’s what that
part of us wants. It’s in a child. Usually they’re asking this question of, am
I good enough? Am I worthy enough? Have I done enough? Because they want love.
They want to feel loved and they want to feel secure and they want to feel appreciated
and seen and heard and held. Things that every single one of us wants.

[00:10:46] And we look for that
often in follower counts and likes and income. And did this person invite me to
this summit? Did they like that thing that I did? What did my clients say about
[00:11:00] that? We look for that externally.
We read books and we listen to podcasts and we reach our goals. And that’s not
bad guys.

[00:11:13] But what we could do
instead, which would be more effective, and this is how you’re going to
leverage this pain inside to increase income and impact, is if we can start
giving that part of ourself love and care and appreciation and security by
showing up for it every day. Speaking with it, listening to it, letting it know
that, yeah, I got you.

[00:11:38] You can doubt and I
got you. You’re still worthy. We don’t have to ask our business to meet our
inner child’s needs. We can meet it. And that is much more effective because
when you’re trying to use your business or a person or a partner or some
extent, something external to you to meet the needs. If you’re in a child, you [00:12:00] feel like you are on a roller coaster.

[00:12:01] Life is unstable.
You feel shitty inside. All your energy goes to avoiding pain. Instead of
creating and finding pleasure, entrepreneurs need to find pleasure and we need
to create. That’s how we fulfill our purpose and that’s how we make money. You
know that, that’s why you’re here. And so when we go in and we meet that part’s
needs, we separate it and we ask it to stop meeting its needs through the
business.

[00:12:35] And we say, if you,
if you need love and you need care, just tell me. And I’ll come and I’ll do my
meditation. And this is a meditation and a practice that I teach every single
one of my clients inside of my program. It gives you that sense of, I got this
in life. And then you get to show up to business as the wise CEO. And because
you’re not avoiding feeling rejected because you know how to meet that in a
part of [00:13:00] your needs, then you feel
more comfortable having more sales conversations with each, which equals more
sales.

[00:13:07] And because you’re
not worried that you’re going to be judged, you feel more confident really
speaking your mind in your marketing, which gets you more visibility, which
means you have more impact and then you have more income from that visibility.
And because you love on your inner child so much and you provided the security
and love and care that it needs, then if something happens and you have more
expenses one month than you were anticipating, you don’t go into an anxiety and
shame spiral for three days.

[00:13:38] You feel the tension
in your chest for 30 seconds, you take a few deep breaths, you move on and you
find a creative way to problem solve and you end up bringing in more money than
you had suspected because it lit a fire under you. You got creative. You got
things done. So that’s how when we go inside and we meet these needs, a skill
that I [00:14:00] teach inside of my program,
body based business.

[00:14:05] We are able to
increase our income and our impact every single time, every single time. And so
if this is something that you are curious about, that you would like to explore
more of, if you would like to heal these deep wounds inside so that you can have
more income, so that you can have more impact. I recommend that you start by
watching my nervous system training and immersive workshop called the embodied
entrepreneur inside of this free workshop.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] There’s no need to wait until tomorrow to build a somatic practice that supports you in making more money. Today, we’re going to go over five somatic hacks for making money that you can start using today. By the end of the episode, you will know the one question to ask yourself so that you can make more money daily.

[00:00:32] The inconvenient truth around somatic trauma healing, what most people ignore that cause them a lot of harm when it comes to taking financial advice and five innovative strategies. In sum, five innovative strategies for nervous system regulation to stay money. Stay to the end because there is one that I’m going to be sharing that you have never heard on any other podcast before or any book or anything else.

[00:00:58] So I was in the pool the other day and I [00:01:00] was talking to a friend and, uh, they were asking me actually about what I was doing today and I was supposed to be recording this podcast, right? And, uh, I said, Oh, I’m going to record a podcast on five somatic hats for making more money. And they asked me about the first one.

[00:01:16] I, I share with them a couple of one, a couple of them, but for them, this is the one that made the most sense. So I’m going to start with it for you. My question first is like, have you ever signed a client or had a job or done anything where you have felt like that work was a little bit of a burden? Like it felt like it took away time or it took away freedom or it made you kind of be some version of yourself that you don’t really want to be or made you speak with a boss that you don’t want to speak to or engage in activities that you don’t want to engage in.

[00:01:53] , if you are in the practice of service providing or you’re a coach like me, this can even be as [00:02:00] simple as you get a message from your clients and you’re like, Oh, well they’re asking that same question again, or, Oh, they might have to answer that now kind of feeling on call or any, any type of situation where work feels stressful.

[00:02:15] It feels maybe like you have to solve all these problems or you have all these people responsible for you. Now, the truth is our body, our nervous system is made to keep us in situations that it perceives as safe. Now, this is an extremely complex thing that I’m going to try and dissolve into 90 seconds on a podcast, but essentially when things cause some type of stress or a perceived sense of burden or a perceived sense of lack of safety or any type of should the, it sends to the body that.

[00:02:50] You’re in an environment that isn’t totally 100 percent safe. So this means that if I feel stressed when I sign new clients because now I have [00:03:00] more deadlines and more things to do and I feel on call or I don’t like the way that they speak to me or something like that, then my body is actually wired, is going to wire me to avoid that situation of stress.

[00:03:15] Now it doesn’t mean that you’re never, ever going to sign clients are obviously going to be some things that, The body will decide, Oh, it is worth signing a client, even though it makes me the stress because not doing so would make me more stressed. And it’s able to perceive that and then make a decision based on that.

[00:03:31] But for a lot of you who are probably doing like you’re doing a little bit, okay, you would like to be making more money, but you know, you’re, you’re surviving enough to be able to have a phone and listen to this. A lot of the time, what’s going to happen is that if your clients or your work is causing you stress or your day to day job is causing you stress and you put your head on the pillow at night and your mind goes into

[00:04:00] overthinking or you have tension in your neck, you’re not really sure where it comes from or you just cannot wait for the weekend, then What happens is your body is going to try and help you avoid stress by not giving you the sensations, emotions, or thoughts that would bring you to actually sign more clients.

[00:04:18] Instead, it’s going to give you sensations, emotions, and thoughts that make you not sign clients, that make you do something else, even though you might perceive that to be as really, really frustrating, really annoying, really inconvenient, and even really unsafe. Your body’s job is to keep you away from stressful situations.

[00:04:39] And it does that by giving you a perceived experience of the world. So the one question that you can ask yourself to help you make more money daily is that when you are doing any task that leads to making money, so this might be any type of admin work, any type of connecting with future clients, any type of content creation, any type of speaking with your employees, any type of [00:05:00] anything.

[00:05:00] Even just like getting ready for work, want you to ask yourself, how can I make this moment feel 5 percent safer, more pleasurable and more normal. And what we’re doing is we’re bringing in three aspects that help the body feel like, Oh, this action is safe. Meaning I can repeat it again. Pleasurable meaning one pleasure is inherently regulating to the nervous system.

[00:05:27] And it also, It primes the nervous system for more of that thing. Like we always are looking for more pleasure, so it makes it, we’re asking, how can I make it more safe so that I can repeat it again? How can I bring in more pleasure so that I can feel even more regulated, even more relaxed and also repeat it again?

[00:05:45] And how can I make it even more normal? So what we’re doing here is we’re creating a new balance or set point for the nervous system. So maybe a little while ago, let’s say it was really normal for you to receive. 3,

[00:06:00] 000 a month, right? That was, that felt normal to get that amount of money. And then later on, it’s going to be more normal for you to receive 7, 000 a month.

[00:06:08] And then we’re going to normalize that and stabilize that. And then we’re going to build that up to 12 or 17. What I do with a lot of my clients is they come to me when they’re often just in their one business, but sometimes they have a job on the side or they have some type of income on the side, or maybe they don’t, but what they haven’t done is figured out how to make.

[00:06:30] Really normal and stable 5k months, for example. And so what I work with my clients in, in body based business is making 5k months feel super stable, super pleasurable, and really, really normal. And we create that set point there so that when they walk away from the container, working with me, they’re never going to go down below that 5k months.

[00:06:50] And instead they’re going to have a somatic strategy to be able to normalize, bring pleasure and activate higher and higher and higher.

[00:07:00] and they’re just going to repeat that system over and over again.

[00:07:06] Then we have the inconvenient truth about somatic trauma healing. This is something that has come up in most of the people that I’ve worked with and it’s actually part of the reason why I ended up in this specific realm. I started working with people in and OCD support. Hair loss support and confidence coaching and relationship anxiety coaching and something kept coming up at the end of our containers together.

[00:07:37] It’s like we would do all this work. We would do all this healing. We would get feeling really good. And then at the end we would start thinking about, okay, well now that we’ve created this really, base,, emotional well being, what am I going to do with all my energy? And a lot of my clients ended up saying, well, I kind of feel like I want to.

[00:07:53] Make more money. I want to do more fun things. I want to pursue a passion. I want to kind of begin to leave a little bit of a,

[00:08:00] a legacy in this world and They would say to me, nah. We would talk about like, you know, child, inner child trauma and stuff. And something that people would say to me is like, you know, I kind of have this like odd relationship with money, but I’ve never experienced like, any type of money, trauma or anything.

[00:08:18] Like, I’ve never lost heaps of money. You know, mom’s, mom and dad never went bankrupt. And, and I do work a lot of people who have had those stories, but a lot of the people that I work with or I speak with, they’re like, oh, well, nothing’s really ever happened. Yeah, I don’t really know why I have this weird relationship with money where I’m really anxious about it no matter how much I have or I like really struggled to look at my bank account.

[00:08:40] And the truth is that trauma isn’t actually an event. It’s the effect of an event on your system. So your system is made to digest events. It’s made for an event to occur either to you or you can witness an event. And what it does is it digests it. It [00:09:00] goes, okay, cool. I’m going to intake this information.

[00:09:03] From this information, I am going to take in what is going to help me navigate the world. And so those are things like beliefs or understandings or connotations and, or even an identity structure. And then I’m going to discard that, which is not supportive for me. And a lot of the times that looks like emotions that just kind of have to be felt through the body.

[00:09:27] That’s just like when you normally digest, right? You take food in, you take in the nutrients and you discard the waste. Now trauma happens when your nervous system cannot digest that specific experience in Real time. And so what it does is it kind of like stores some of the experience to process later on It just doesn’t have the resources to digest it, right?

[00:09:50] It doesn’t have the metabolism to digest it so it stores a little bit of the good the wisdom and the nutrients and a little bit of the not so good the icky stuff or the difficult coping [00:10:00] mechanisms and That goes very much Undetected until we start looking at some of the symptoms. And so some of the symptoms, particularly around money, it’s like, well, I’m not earning as much as I would like to be, or I feel really anxious when I look at my bank account.

[00:10:18] I feel like there’s never enough, or I feel like the foot’s always going to drop or, um, you know, I just, I’ve been trying to make a little bit more, but I haven’t really figured it out yet. Or I hate looking at it. I don’t like talking about it. I hate money. It’s bad. And these things, these ways of looking at money or relating to money.

[00:10:43] actually come from your relationship to money, your relationship, which is built just like your relationship to men or women or pets or horses or your mom or your dad or your sister or your brother or your aunt or your uncle or your boyfriend or your girlfriend or any type of partner, right? And

[00:11:00] the inconvenient truth is that you might be walking through life thinking, I’ve got everything under control.

[00:11:06] Everything is perfect. And there is still going to be some deep experience that is affecting the way that you relate to your money. I’ve been doing this work for many years and I can confidently say that there are traumas that I’ve found after thinking that everything was wonderful and fine and I found that and I was like, Oh, I didn’t realize how much that had affected me.

[00:11:29] I didn’t have to go down a big dark night of the soul with it, but I said, Oh, okay. Yeah. I can see how that’s affecting me. Interesting. Let’s see if we, what, what I want to keep from that, what I want to change. And I can also confidently say that you guys are going to witness over the next few years. I’m probably going to find some other stuff that I wasn’t aware of as I continue to do this work with you.

[00:11:47] It’s an ongoing process, but there’s always going to be something simply because humans are extremely, extremely complex. We go through a lot of things, we experience a lot of things, and the

[00:12:00] schemes and the webs inside of our mind and our body are extremely complex, um, and we can only see so much at a time.

[00:12:09] Now that you’re here doing this work, my invitation is for you to take notice and begin just seeing where your relationship with money isn’t exactly what you would like, where your bank account doesn’t look exactly how you would like, and just perhaps open yourself up to the idea that there might be something that has happened either to you or you have witnessed happened to another person that would be secondhand trauma that is affecting your beliefs.

[00:12:32] Now, this can be as simple as like, It’s very traumatic to be, to be constantly exposed to the idea that the world is going to fall apart, that you’re not going to have enough resources, and that there is scarcity. Chronic exposure to scarcity becomes a traumatic event. I don’t know about you, but if you watch the news or talk to a lot of people, especially lately, there is a lot of fear in the media and fear around

[00:13:00] what’s going to happen, um, with, there’s like depression and then there’s a great war and then there’s like, we’re going to be overcome by robots and AI is going to take our jobs and all of that.

[00:13:09] And that’s been true forever. There’s always been a lot of fear forever and us being chronically consistently exposed to that actually becomes a traumatic experience because it’s chronic stress on the system. So even just that, even just living, won’t you just stop thinking about how. deeply that is affecting your nervous system and putting it into a fear response and creating stress hormones that actually stop you from being able to see the bigger picture of your options available and help and stop you from feeling, um, empowered around money and capable and open to receive money.

[00:13:46] I did a wonderful, wonderful episode on like feeling like I can’t afford this and I’m going to link it below because that talks about how that stress response and being chronically exposed to the story of I can’t

[00:14:00] afford this actually makes it really difficult for you to then able to be money. I’ll send some information.

[00:14:07] Um, I’ll guide you to the episode at the end of this episode. And I’ll also have the link below in the show notes. So there’s that. Now let’s talk about what most people ignore that harms you when it comes to taking financial advice. There’s a lot of financial advice out there and I think education and awareness around your finances is.

[00:14:33] So necessary, so deeply necessary. There are some great, really, really good books and podcasts and all of this stuff. And I love them and I consume them. And I recommend you to do so as well. However,

[00:14:47] what sometimes happens is we take these sources of education and we begin to apply their advice and techniques. Awesome. Good. I’m all here for

[00:15:00] experimenting, but unless you know, Your body’s attachment to money and the fact that your body, your nervous system actually has an attachment to money then You could be employing advice that is going to increase anxiety in your system, increase fear in your system and actually pull you away from being in that space of a regulated nervous system of receivership of joy of lack of stress of trust and These are, you know, I don’t, I know there’s maybe a kind of skeptical parts of our mind that are like, Oh, well, it thinks that if I stress and plan about something that it means that I’m going to make more money.

[00:15:44] No, not necessarily. That’s actually not how it works. Most of the time, as long as you put a plan in place and you are intelligent, you can look at things from a neutral point of view or aka a regulated nervous system. , Then you’re actually going to make more money for some

[00:16:00] of you. That’s going to sound a little bit like woo woo, even though I don’t like that word, but at the end of the day, it’s just true.

[00:16:05] It’s been true for me. It’s been true for my clients where there are so many, so many people out out in the world who are living proof of this. Um, it’s been spoken about, it’s been written about, it’s been studied. I want you to experiment by yourself and decide what you decide, what you think basically.

[00:16:21] But. You are going to bring more money in when you can look at money with neutrality from a regulated nervous system and not in an insecure attached way. What does that mean? Our attachment to money represents our attachment to belonging in our tribe, our safety and resources, and Essentially like our connection to the earth, who we are, what we’re doing here, our right to be here, our right to survive and our ability to survive means it’s inherently activating.

[00:16:54] Now what we want to create is a secure attachment where we believe that money will come and go. [00:17:00] And a come and go, just like we create a secure attachment to a parent or caregiver where we can trust that we are going to have all of the resources and love that we need. And that caretaker will be there for you.

[00:17:13] And then if they’re absent, well, they’re going to come back and you’re going to be okay. In attachment theory, we have different types of insecure attachment. We have ones that are more.

[00:17:32] Um, and then we have more avoidant where it’s like being close and having that attention and intimacy is actually very scary. So we like to maintain a very specific amount of distance. So if you have a more. Insecure attachment, then you’re worrying about money. Is it going to come back to me? If I spend it, am I going to get more back?

[00:17:53] Do I have enough? If you have a more avoidant attachment, it’s difficult for you to look at your bank accounts.

[00:18:00] You kind of like, Oh yeah, like it’s fine. Like you’ll have a person who’s like, I don’t want to make money because sorry, I just want to have enough money so I don’t have to think about it.

[00:18:07] That’s an avoidant way of relating to money because you’re trying to have money so that you don’t have to think about it. Instead of that’s like saying, I just want to have a lover so that I don’t have to think about. Having a lover, like I want to have a man so that I just don’t have to like have them there.

[00:18:22] No, we want money to be there for us so that we can feel empowered and we can enjoy it and also not feel worried about it. Right? Like enjoy it. Trust that it’s going to be there. Trust that it’s not going to be there sometimes and just be in the dance with money in the same way that you would dance in a relationship.

[00:18:40] So I’m going to do another podcast and that’s going to be the next one up in a couple of days. So you can check that out as well. But I want you to begin to understand that any advice that you take from a book or a podcast or anything, it needs to be filtered through what is going to be the most empowering for your nervous system.

[00:18:58] So if I tend more towards

[00:19:00] anxious, I’m going to need different strategies, tools than somebody who tends towards. And as I begin to heal that attachment with money by showing up for myself and showing up for my money, my needs are also going to change. And then I can relook at kind of the advice and the tools that I’m using to manage my money and to make sales in my business and to bring in more income.

[00:19:24] Okay, a little bit more. Beautiful. There. Is to, there are two more, these are three innovative strategies that I’ve shared with you. And please DM me on Instagram if you would like to go deeper into them. My Instagram is at SheridanRuth underscore, but there are two more that I want to share with you. The last one is going to be kind of the mind blowing one, but the first one, the second last one is really, really, really important.

[00:19:55] And I want you to begin to do it right now. As I mentioned in the beginning.

[00:20:00] Um, you, your body is going to always prioritize keeping you in spaces that it believes are safe. Aka known your body, your nervous system always wants to avoid the unknown because it thinks the unknown is unsafe because it doesn’t know that it can hold that and be in that and solve problems at that level.

[00:20:22] It’s unsafe. So in order for your body. to give you the thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and actions, and kind of that desire, and the insight, and the creativity to move to a new income bracket or to make more money today. It needs to know that it’s going to be safe at that point. And I can logically think, Oh yeah, like it’s going to be fat.

[00:20:45] Obviously it’s going to be safe, like obviously, but what you and I think in our brain is different to what our body perceives because our body has a different relationship with feelings and emotions and the world and relationships and all those things. So

[00:21:00] your body might actually think, Oh, if I make too much money, I am going to be judged by my friends and I’m not going to get along with my friends anymore.

[00:21:07] They’re going to not want to hang out with me. It’s going to be really awkward or it’s going to like change the dynamics in my marriage or I’m going to lose all of it. Just like I saw my friends lose all of it. I’m going to have to pay more taxes and that’s really sticky for me because I have, you know, a difficult relationship with the government.

[00:21:25] I don’t want to do that. And so what we want to do is begin to prime your nervous system for more money. And we do that using different somatic practices, like ones might include kind of holding the energy of the money in, in the body. It might include priming for the best case scenario or the worst case scenario.

[00:21:49] If you were to bring more money in, there’s always a worst case scenario. There’s always challenges that come with change. , what we’re doing is we’re just kind of giving the body an embodied

[00:22:00] sense of safety. Now your body’s really intelligent and one of the things that’s really cool about it is that when you’re visualizing something, it doesn’t actually know the difference between A visualized reality versus a 3d reality that I can touch right now.

[00:22:16] So a lot of the ways that we prime this is we create embodiment practices and embodiment experiences where you’re visualizing and solving the problems the body thinks it’s going to have when it increases the income before increasing the income so that you can increase the income. I hope that makes sense.

[00:22:38] Good. Good. That. The last innovative strategy, which is super cool. And I really, really, really, really, really, really like it. And it’s very unique to my approach. I come from an Ayurvedic and a tantric background, and this is the one thing that I’ve seen a lot of nervous system work really missing. , it is.

[00:22:58] the elemental

[00:23:00] imbalance. Now, a lot of nervous system work really focuses on here is your nervous system state, and here is a practice that you can use to change that state. Cool. Love that. Really awesome. I do it too. My clients get a toolbox full of somatic practices to change that state. Here’s what my clients also get.

[00:23:16] They get education on how to change that state based on what it means, the elements. So fire, water, ether. Earth are doing in their body.

[00:23:31] Guys, this is Freya. You might know her already. She’s my cohost and she asked questions that you might be thinking of as you guys build your business together with nervous system regulation and trauma healing. Good question. So in essence, the entire universe is built on the way that The five elements, either you like kind of come together to build things, right?

[00:23:57] So a tree has

[00:24:00] elements inside of it and That like everything that you can touch or you can perceive, including yourself is built on a specific combination of different elements and different combinations of the five elements that we live with. We have seen this in numerous different Eastern traditions.

[00:24:19] And you can actually, if you go down to the cellular makeup of things, you can also see it. Not to get too science y at the moment, I want you to just begin to think about the different elements in the nervous system states. Now, I do have another podcast on this, their podcast number 37 to 40, where we talk more about it.

[00:24:36] You guys have, you guys have so many fun things to binge. I’m excited for you. But essentially, your nervous system, when it is regulated, it has a beautiful combination of all of these elements in a very, um, Like it’s, they’re all the same amount, right? So it’s a balanced understanding.

[00:24:54] Neither is imbalanced or more than the other or less than the other. When you go into a stress

[00:25:00] response, we might get more of ether and air. We might get more fire. We might get more earth, which makes you feel heavy and like hard and like depressed and shameless, right? Shameful. , what we want to do when we start using somatic heights, nervous system regulation in order to prime the body to make more money is coming back to number one.

[00:25:21] We want things to start feeling more safe and in order for things to start feeling more safe or pleasurable or normal, we want to have the nervous system in that regulated space where there’s no. Element that’s out of balanced. So when you understand and you start looking at, Oh, I’m in, I’m in an anxious state, which means that the element of ether and air is out of balance in my system.

[00:25:45] I know that in order to bring myself back into balance, I need to balance the ether and air in my system. I don’t, now I’m like, okay, well I’m not going to go and do some breath work or Kundalini yoga because

[00:26:00] that’s going to make me feel more flighty. I’m going to go put my feet on the earth because what’s the opposite of ether and air?

[00:26:06] It’s earth. Right? Ether and air is like out there or flying around and earth is dense and on the ground. And so when you can understand the different nervous system states and you can understand the different elemental imbalances, you don’t need to rely on what somebody else told you is good from that nervous system state.

[00:26:28] You can start listening to your body and you can say, okay, I can feel that I’m anxious. I can feel that I need a stabilizing presence in that’s like earthy. In my life right now, what is that going to be? Cause there’s going to be times where it’s actually going to be a really good piece of dark chocolate.

[00:26:43] And then there are going to be other times where you’re like, I’m just going to put my feet in the earth. And then there are going to be other times you’re going to say, I need more stability in my schedule because earth is stable and grounding and dense and a little bit sweet. Right? And I want you to feel empowered and understand

[00:27:00] these nervous system states so that you don’t need to rely on a PDF or a specific practice and you can actually start listening to your body and actually start learning your body compass because that is the most important tool that you can use.

[00:27:12] As you begin to make a profitable business that will give, that will be made without burnout, without anxiety, that’s going to scale with ease. And that’s going to give you the energy and vitality to live your life as an embodied individual, as an embodied entrepreneur, because that’s why we are here.

[00:27:30] , I’m going to recommend to you a specific episode around, uh. The, I can’t afford it type thing, trauma that we experience. And so that specific episode is number 55. It’s called how to create money to invest in support. And what you’re going to learn when you listen to that episode is the truth about the full body.

[00:27:48] Yes. What you are really saying when you say I can’t afford it. This is the part that I want you to listen to the most and how to cultivate an open receptive nervous system that can receive more income

[00:28:00] connection and pleasure. .

[00:00:00] Money can be really complicated. You’re about to learn why, as well as a simple path to more money and more profit. By the end of the episode, you’ll know the one stance towards money that creates profit, the generational embodied patterns you have to understand if you want to increase your capacity to earn, spend, and save, and the surprising connection between your money, parents, ancestors, and Rats.

[00:00:40] So as much as so many of us would like to pretend that our connection to money is noble and easy and abundant, just like that influencer that we follow on Instagram or the person that books for reading money is extremely complex. Our relationship with money is complex and complicated because it [00:01:00] represents the most primal survival needs.

[00:01:03] resources, connections, tribe, food, roof over our head, et cetera. And because of that, it becomes extremely and inherently activating to the nervous system because of his inherent activation. It’s not enough just to do mindset work or read a book or listen to a podcast even, or even just learn about how to manage money or anything.

[00:01:28] It’s definitely not enough just to try and push yourself into specific habits around money by having enough willpower to stick to a budget or look for the perfect budgeting app or spreadsheet. Your relationship to your money or your lack of money is mapped through your nervous system. Attachment style and most subconscious beliefs.

[00:01:50] Only an untangling and a reconfiguration of this complex relationship with money through nervous system and subconscious work with respect to your trauma around money [00:02:00] will allow you to increase your capacity to receive, circulate and save money with confidence.

[00:02:08] this is Freya. She is my little co host who asks the questions. That you’re asking as you guys learn to build a business from an embodied space, uh, that’s profitable and anxiety free. Now. Okay. This is a lot of things. I want you to remember and think about number one, your relationship with money is built into your nervous system.

[00:02:31] Your nervous system has a relationship with money. Your body feels a certain way when it looks at certain numbers, you have certain thoughts when you have certain numbers and this all comes. The first place it comes from is how your body perceives these certain numbers. Your body, your nervous system kind of.

[00:02:46] It brings that information in and then it goes through into your beliefs. It goes through into your memories. It uses the intelligence of the nervous system and the brain to create a story around [00:03:00] those specific numbers and to make sense of them. And then once it has that story and that understanding, it sends you thoughts, sends you emotions and it inspires action or inaction.

[00:03:10] Now your nervous system takes all of this information. From up until seven generations past, right? So your nervous system is going to have specific pieces of understanding the world that my nervous system doesn’t have because we have different ancestors. Now, if your ancestors grew up in a similar environment to mine, Maybe they’re even from the same country.

[00:03:34] Maybe they’re, you know, maybe we have things in common in our ancestral line. Then most likely you and I are going to share some fundamental ways of seeing money. But it doesn’t mean we’re going to share the same wants because there are so many things that are affecting it. Now this is when I say that your relationship to money has something to do with your ancestors and rats.

[00:03:53] Because there was a study shown that showed, , it did a test on rats and what it did [00:04:00] was it And this is kind of an ugly study, but a really good one in that it gave us a lot of information. I had a cat, right? Sorry, a rat. And it electrocuted the rat every time the rat saw a red light. So the rat would see a red light and they’d receive an electric shock.

[00:04:17] And it did this. Then afterwards of doing that for a little while, they impregnated the rat and the rat had little rat babies and then they would show the rat babies a red light and the rat babies would have a stress response from the red light, even though those specific babies had never received any type of pain or discomfort.

[00:04:36] from a red light. It’s just a red light, but their nervous system was carrying the information from their mom, which is red light equals danger equals stress response. And what they did was they kept breeding these rats and they kept showing the rats a red light and just seeing up until what point the rats stopped reacting to the red light with a stress response because their nervous [00:05:00] system felt that it was danger.

[00:05:01] It took seven generations to basically yeah. meaning that for seven generations, the rats were still holding the information about that specific import, the red light in their nervous system, that it was dangerous. So our nervous system has that same relationship with money, which means that your relationship with money really depends a lot on what your ancestors experienced, how they felt about it, what their financial.

[00:05:32] was the things that they went through. So I want you to start just like, think about that. Like what was your grandmothers and grandfathers and their ancestors relationship with money? Did they grow up doing war? Did they grow up during depression? Did they have a lot of money? Did somebody suffer some big tragedy around money?

[00:05:50] Was there a betrayal? Did somebody even lose, you know, sometimes families, like they go into business together and then they lose their. They’re brother, because there was an argument around Lennie. [00:06:00] What type of tension may have occurred through your ancestral line? And if you’re not sure, Do some research, like actually ask your parents about this, ask, you know, your aunt about this, ask your grandma about this.

[00:06:14] Even do some research into the historical events that were happening around that time. You know, seven generations is pretty far back and it is really interesting to start thinking about, well, I don’t know heaps about my ancestors, but like for me example, I know that But further up the line of my ancestors, they were born, I can’t remember in what year now, but I know that they were born in Holland in that year.

[00:06:36] So what’s really interesting for me is to kind of put that year into Google and look at what was happening in Holland and begin to really understand like this whole entire view around our ancestors. Um, so that you can understand, okay, what are like the inbuilt patterns that my nervous system might be holding?

[00:06:55] That’s really, really, really, really, really important and can be very, very [00:07:00] enlightening to help us understand your relationship or even your expectations of money. Think of it like that. What are my expectations of money? Do I expect money to always be there? Do I expect money to be there sometimes and then go away?

[00:07:12] Do I expect money to cause me pain? Do I expect money to cause me pleasure? Do I expect that good people have money? Do I expect that bad people have money? Do I expect money to be neutral? Is like, what are the things that I’ve learned about money and my ancestors have learned about money? I just kind of spoke a little bit about expecting money to be there and then not be there.

[00:07:36] And what I’m talking about here is our attachment to money. So we have something called an attachment style. There’s a book called attached that really just speaks to this so well. Um, if you haven’t read the book attached, I would highly recommend that you do. I will see if I can remember who wrote it and put that in the, I think the guy’s name was a mere something I’ll put it in the show notes, but attached [00:08:00] basically tells us what our nervous, sorry, attachment style tells us what our nervous system perceives will happen in relation to getting our needs met.

[00:08:07] By caregiver. In this case, we’re going to just recognize that when we’re a kid, when we’re a baby, our caregiver is usually like our parents, whatever caregiver is replacing our parents. And we’re concerned when we’re a child about whether or not mom and dad are going to be there in order to help us get our needs met.

[00:08:26] We depend on them for everything. And then what happens is we stop having to depend on them. We begin becoming independent. And now. We depend a little bit on mom and dad and a little bit on a job. We have to start earning money. So all of a sudden like we’re considering paying rent or we need to buy our own shoes.

[00:08:45] So we need to buy our own things and we’re paying for you know, our own concert tickets and all of that stuff and then we have a mortgage and all of a sudden the way that we get our needs met is yes by our caregivers still in some ways, but more and more as we grow older [00:09:00] it’s by money. We need money to function.

[00:09:03] What used to be, I get food because I cry and mom gives me food has now become, I get food because I go to work, make money and then go buying food and then I cook it. And so now our attachment style is translated to our relationship with money because that is the main way that we receive resources.

[00:09:26] It’s also one of the main ways that we receive belonging. Having money or being in a certain income bracket will dictate who you get to be friends with, who you spend time with, how people perceive you, how you feel that you are perceived. It’s kind of sad to think about it a little bit, but it’s also just true, you know, like it’s hard to be friends with somebody who you’d never meet because you guys are in different income brackets and have different hobbies.

[00:09:50] That’s just like the truth of it. And so, and then we have the whole thing of like, what do people think about me? If I have this close or if I do that, or if I want to stick to this budget or [00:10:00] if I don’t have an iPhone, you know, we have all of those little insecurities that can sometimes appear in questions and our own way of even judging other people.

[00:10:06] Like you’ve looked at other people before and don’t tell me that you haven’t where you’re like, well, they. Like you make a judgment about their financial situation based on their clothes and their shoes, right? So our money is what we’re using now to help us get our needs met because we’re using our caregivers less.

[00:10:25] And so to break it down very simply, we can have three different attachments. Now this is very, very simple. Maybe in another podcast, I’ll go further into it, but we have two different insecure attachments, which is anxious and avoidant. And then we have one secure attachment insecure attachment. called the anxious attachment is the type of attachment to money where like you’re not really sure if it’s gonna come back.

[00:10:50] It’s like, oh, is it gonna be there? Is it not gonna be there? Am I gonna have enough? I’m not really sure. I’m really worried. I just want to like save enough just for a rainy day. But like you never actually [00:11:00] enjoy your savings and it’s like, oh, you just you want to keep it really close to you. And you’re really nervous and like it might run away and some people who have this have really big savings accounts.

[00:11:10] And they never like use them for anything, but some people don’t, and they just feel fearful around money, but then like they. They still kind of struggle to keep a, keep a grasp of it because they’re acting from so much fear that they’re unable to access that really neutral, regulated, creative, and um, part of their brain that has a lot of perspective and can manage that money well.

[00:11:35] Then we have our avoidant money attachment, where it’s kind of like, one, I, like, as soon as money comes in, I find things to spend it on. I don’t even know if I want to have money. I feel really uncomfortable looking at my bank account. You’re like, Oh, I just don’t want to think about money. And you might even notice that no matter how much you work, it’s like your savings account never really grows.

[00:11:58] Um. [00:12:00] Or you’d have no idea what your money is doing. An anxious attachment usually has a pretty good, like you can probably, I had a client say this last week. She’s like, I know every single day what my bank account is down to the cent. That tells me that she has probably more of an anxious attachment.

[00:12:15] Then I had another client that’s like, I just want to make enough money so that I never have to think about it. And I’m like, Hmm, this is a sign that there’s an avoidance because we’re trying to do something so that we can avoid having a relationship with money. Cause it makes something uncomfortable.

[00:12:28] You know what I mean? Then we have our secure attachment to money as secure attachment to money is like I trust That when I need money, money is going to show up for me. I know how to make money. I feel pretty neutral when I like, interact with money. You know, I don’t have any big feelings about anything.

[00:12:48] I, like, it’s pretty good. Like, it’s pretty, you know, there’s a lot of money neutrality. I can look at things strategically. I don’t attach my worth to my bank account. I don’t attach my level of safety to what’s happening in [00:13:00] my bank account. I know how to bring more money in. I know when it’s safe to just kind of relax and think about other things.

[00:13:07] Like we’re just feeling pretty good around money. And I also have an income high enough and savings high enough that I don’t actually need to worry, but. I’m not, not worrying from an avoidance space, I just feel good about it and know what I need to do. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t sometimes difficulties and like stresses and obstacles in your money, in your relationship with money.

[00:13:31] You know, maybe there’s a change in your financial circumstance or you’re building a business and it requires a different, um, level of investment of time and money. Um, but it just like you feel empowered around it. It doesn’t cause stress. It will never keep you up at night. It’ll never create arguments between you and your partner or it’ll never be awkward between you and your friends.

[00:13:51] Right? It’s just, yeah, cool money. Okay. Love it. Lovely. Beautiful. And that [00:14:00] is the most important thing that you need to understand because. Everything you do around your money, if you do not understand your attachment around it, and if you do not work to create a secure attachment, then you’re going to be coming from this stress response, which makes it so much harder to be creative and to be clear and to set goals and to look at them with perspective and clarity and to be strategic and to.

[00:14:27] Be in states of hope and positivity, which is essential for actually bringing more money in some of the biggest millionaires in the world. And I, I don’t know if I can name names right now because I’ve forgotten, but they often talk about how the way that millionaires make money is choosing to be in hope and positivity when the rest of the world is in fear.

[00:14:50] And that’s what I want for you, for you to be able to access that empowerment instead of coming from fear because fear. It stresses you out, causes stress [00:15:00] on your body, your mind, your emotions, and it makes it very difficult to see opportunities. So the one stance towards money that creates profit is neutrality from a secure attachment.

[00:15:15] How do we create a secure attachment? So if you’re on anxious and you’re on avoidant, how do we bring you back to a secure attachment? The answer is trauma healing. Now, trauma healing in some places is going to be like going back into the past and the trauma and just like experiencing it and closing the loop and it’s, it’s very orient towards reparenting or in a child work or I like to use IFS parts work a lot with my clients.

[00:15:41] That’s true. But sometimes it’s also just like showing up and creating a sense of self trust. And so sometimes it’s beginning to understand what your relationship with money is, observe it and then take actions from another place. Sometimes it’s awareness, sometimes it’s bringing more pleasure into when you [00:16:00] spend money or when you save money.

[00:16:02] Sometimes it’s looking at the shame that you carry around money or the guilt. guilt. Sometimes it’s re re wiring or expanding your beliefs around money or beliefs around yourself and money or people and money. Sometimes it’s understanding the story that your body tells you about money is maybe a little bit different to what your mind tells you about money.

[00:16:23] And then maybe even different to your actual reality. An example of this would be like my client that I mentioned, she said, you know, I know exactly how much money I have and I, and I just feel like I’m, I’m going to run out. I feel like I’m going to run out my body. It just gives me this like sense of like, I’m going to run out, but I can logically look at my bank account and say, no, you have enough money that you, you, you’re going to, it’s going to be okay.

[00:16:45] You have enough money, you have a job, you’re fine. And then. That’s what it says. And then the reality is like she has more than enough. And so just understanding that all of these things are very different. So [00:17:00] we need to do trauma healing around your relationship to money. Your relationship to money acts in a cycle.

[00:17:09] There’s money meets you and it tunes to you and you get your needs met by money. You’re able to buy the things that you want. You’re able to experience the life that you want. You get the resources, you get the sense of belonging, you feel safe. And then oftentimes there is a disruption in your attachment with money.

[00:17:26] There is a time where you thought you were going to have money and now you don’t have it or because of lack of money, you can’t do a certain thing that you really wanted to do with your friends. And now you don’t feel like. You know, you missed out on something and it’s very painful for you or maybe because you have more money than other people, they made judgments or perceived you and treated you in a different way.

[00:17:48] And if that experience isn’t repaired, then we have trauma. So a lot of the time the work that I do with my clients is going in and repairing [00:18:00] their relationship with money in the same way that you would repair a disruption or a conflict in a relationship with a loved one of yours. When we are able to go in and repair, we are able to expand your beliefs, to expand your relationship with money and to move towards a secure attachment where you can access neutrality, creativity, ingenuity, peace, that balanced feeling, which in the end is what brings in more money.

[00:18:28] If you are building your own business, if you are a coach or a service provider, or you’re just an entrepreneur who wants to create an anxiety free body based business, and you’re interested in working one on one with me and healing your own financial trauma so that you can bring more money in, you can earn more, you can save more, you can circulate more and do more good in the world.

[00:00:00] If anyone ever tells you to intuitively price your coaching packages or your products, you need to run in the other direction. By the end of this episode, you will know how to price your next offer. It’s not with your intuition. They must know trauma informed and nervous system foundations of pricing.

[00:00:36] And then paradoxically, uh, when and how to price , intuitively, and when it will backfire.

[00:00:45] This episode comes to you from me recently getting on a call with one of my clients and she was really going around in her head and what had happened. And I’ve been here too, [00:01:00] especially when I was transitioning from yoga teaching and I was like very much in this, I mean I still am in the spiritual world, but I was so in it and I hadn’t really found kind of my feet in my own values and perspective.

[00:01:13] And I, would speak to colleagues or coworkers or people in this, in special specific safe. And I would say, you know, I don’t know how much you charge for my services. And I would say, Oh, you’ve just got to like, listen to intuition. And so last week I was on a call with a client and will, will creating her somatic cell strategy, which is one of the foundational parts of my program, body based business.

[00:01:39] It’s. It’s the way that we make money without feeling burnt out or feeling icky or guilty or odd or anxious. Anyway. So we’re sitting and we’re going through the processes and we’re making her sales strategy and I asked her, how much do you charge for this product? And she goes, Oh, I charge X, Y, Z. And I, [00:02:00] I, I, my job as.

[00:02:02] , a body based therapist is to look for little cues in your body that show me that there might be resistance or like ickyness or oddness. And I kind of noticed her face and her shoulders move a little bit. And so I asked her, you know, I said, Oh, okay, like tell me how you’re feeling about that. What, whatever.

[00:02:24] And uh, She came and she said, you know, I just didn’t really know how to charge it, but I just wanted to like, listen to my intuition, but you know, it doesn’t feel really great when I’m talking about it, when I’m sharing it, but you know, this is what my intuition says, X, Y, Z. And she’d gotten advice from a really good friend of hers who is a business coach to price intuitively.

[00:02:53] And so she’d gone and done one of her intuition practices and had set this price, but didn’t feel right, [00:03:00] but she didn’t really know what else. And so she kind of tried to like ignore it, which I think is, I think we all kind of do that with certain things to an extent. I still have things where I think, Oh, I’m just trying to like ignore this.

[00:03:12] But. Sometimes what happens is it’s not super helpful to ignore it. And that’s why it’s very helpful to have things like coaches to ask questions. And so what. , so actually what we ended up doing was we looked into why specifically for her, she couldn’t really price intuitively and why it was backfiring and how she could price her offer.

[00:03:43] And so I’m going to share with you kind of the three takeaways that I jotted down after that session that I think will be helpful as you begin your own sales strategy and as you grow your own business and we increase your income. And so the first thing is really important, which is this, [00:04:00] you guys seen this stuff and they’re like, Oh, you’ve got to charge what you’re worth.

[00:04:05] I am actually really curious if you listening and want to like, just share your perspective with me in Instagram DMs, I’d love to just have a conversation about this, about charging your worth. I’m going to share my opinion about it. So people say like, Oh, you’ve got to charge your worth, don’t charge less of what you’re worth, et cetera.

[00:04:24] I don’t know about you, but. There is absolutely no way in the world that you could compare my worth as a human being to a dollar sign. That’s absurd. Absolutely freaking absurd. It’s like, how? And people come up and they say, I’ve had, I have had this too. And like, I’m not really sure if I’m worthy of receiving that much money.

[00:04:57] What do you, like, what? That’s absurd. What [00:05:00] do you mean you’re not worthy? You’re gonna go up against the universe and ask the universe, Am I worthy of charging a thousand dollars for this? And God or the universe or spirit or source or however you, however you, connect with that energy that we cannot define or see, but we can feel is that they’re going to laugh at you.

[00:05:21] Of course you’re worthy. You’re, it’s like absurd. Of course you’re worthy. You’re worthy of anything that you desire. Like, no, you are inherently worthy. That’s absurd. It’s not, it’s like comparing a tree to a orange. They’re completely different. Like not, not even like a motorbike. They’re completely different.

[00:05:44] And so you can’t charge what you’re worth because it would be impossible for somebody to put you in dollars a month. Now you could kind of get close to charging what your product or your service is worth, charging the value that that [00:06:00] brings to somebody else’s life. And even then I feel like it’s a bit of a slippery slope because a lot of the services that we provide are just so much more worthy than we realize.

[00:06:12] So much more like worth so much more than we realize and I think especially as you know, if you listen to this podcast, you have a conscious and you are quite humble and in a lot of ways, even if you have moments where you’re, you’re not like me, um, It’s very, very difficult, if not impossible for us to fully conceptualize the worth of the services and the tools and the products that we are providing to other people.

[00:06:41] The worth of us being in our pleasure and our joy and our ease, that’s like the ripple effect of that is incomprehensible. And so if we even get close to the conversation of how to charge your worth, I think we should just throw that out there.[00:07:00]

[00:07:04] So if you’re ever thinking, well, am I worthy of this, am I worthy of this income?

[00:07:13] Yes. Yes. Yes. You are. Yes. You are. Yes. You are. And what I think you’re really trying to ask, and I hope is what you’re really trying to ask is how can I remind myself of my inherent worth independent of how much I earn? And you’re also trying to ask, how can I charge an appropriate amount for my services that will build my business and serve the world?

[00:07:43] And. I might make a podcast later on to answer the reminding yourself of your worth and dependent of your external environment. Today’s podcast is about how to price. So let’s talk about how you like the nervous system and [00:08:00] trauma informed lens that is compelling me to share this message that you cannot charge either your worth or intuitively.

[00:08:13] I didn’t plan on saying this, so I didn’t write it down, but I just want to. Make a little caveat to say, especially if you’ve experienced any type of trauma in your life or any type of nervous system dysregulation. What happens a lot of the time is it begins to affect our self concept and our self esteem, even when we think that it hasn’t.

[00:08:34] I was reflecting the other day and I come pretty lucky because I feel like at the moment in my life, I can, I’ve had a lot of moments where I’ve been able to look back and be like, wow, you know, I, I’ve built something like I actually, I get emotional thinking about it. I actually have tears in my eyes right now because I’m able to look back and say, like, I’ve gone through so much and I’ve put so much effort into things and there’s been so many [00:09:00] moments of really deep darkness and

[00:09:07] I thought I learned a lot of, and a lot of those moments I really thought, you know, I have such a great self, self confidence and I think I did. Um, and I thought I really do love myself so much and I really think I did and I have, but also looking back over these past couple of weeks, I began to notice how much I didn’t and it’s a slippery slope, particularly for me.

[00:09:35] Maybe you can tell me if it is for you where I have to be careful not to judge myself for not having a higher self confidence. Um, because there was a part of me that didn’t even want to admit that because it would like mean that I was wrong or that I’d failed at some point, uh, which is its own exploration in and of itself.

[00:09:54] But I can [00:10:00] see, and maybe you can see, and maybe I want to just invite you to see that when we’re people who have gone through difficult things. Whether they be overtly, you’ve had some big tragedy or just you’ve grown up in life and in the 20th century where we’re being told that we need to fix ourselves and change ourselves every, around every corner, a lot of us end up with a low self concept of self worth.

[00:10:29] And so that begins to influence. The thoughts, feelings, and emotions that we have because we hold inside of this energy of lack of appreciation for who we are and how special we are and how worthy we are. And that sometimes actually manifests as intuition or we think it does. And a lot of what I end up doing with my clients is helping them and what I’ve done with myself, helping them.[00:11:00]

[00:11:00] Discern between what is feelings or thoughts that are coming from a limiting belief or a limiting self-concept, um, or a fear, and what is true intelligence and intuition and connection with something and knowing that is deeper. And so you really need to know that most of us have grown up with twisted messages around our worth and who we are and what makes us worthy.

[00:11:33] And this creates a schema or a structure inside of our. nervous system inside of the thoughts that we experienced, the way we respond to our thoughts and the emotions, the sensations that we feel or do not feel at our body and the way that we interpret them. And. The way that we perceive our entire world.

[00:11:53] And so when we go to price things, we’re looking at things through that [00:12:00] lens of our perceived experience of the world, our perceived experience of money, how much money there is, where money comes from, how much money I can ask. For how people receive me, how safe it is to ask for what I want, how safe it is to be bold and be different or what I should be doing, what I shouldn’t be doing.

[00:12:17] And all of these things were coming in through all of these different lenses. And we’re using those lenses to inform the thoughts, feelings, and emotions we have, and therefore the decisions that we make. So you cannot price intuitively most of the time, because especially around money and how inherently activating it is.

[00:12:40] And I have a. Podcast on that, but I’ll recommend to you shortly, but especially around money and services around there. So activating to the nervous system and they activate a lot of our trauma or a lot of the limiting ways in which we see the world that in order to really access our true intuition, we need to [00:13:00] wade through a lot of this stuff.

[00:13:03] In order to find like the clarity, think of it like your intuition is like a rock in the lake, in like a river, right? And in order for me to reach that very specific rock, which is the message from my somatic intelligence and intuition, and for me to reach that rock, the waters have to be crystalline clear.

[00:13:26] And when we’re feeling fear of any type or expectations of any type or, you know, even misaligned desires of any type, it acts as mud in that water and it moves that water in there around and maybe there’s some seaweed and some algae. And so we can’t see the rock. And a lot of the time what happens is we put our hand in and we reach for something else at the bottom of that riverbed and we pull it out and we go, Oh yeah, that’s my intuition.

[00:13:54] And we have no other way of knowing because we haven’t actually seen that specific type of intuition, that specific type of [00:14:00] rock. And so we see this view and we go, yeah, that must be it. That, that, that, that feels good. Yep. That makes sure that’s my, that’s my intuition and we’re wrong, but we don’t know that we’re wrong.

[00:14:12] And, uh, and this happens, right? And then, so a lot of the time. Especially if you’re here is you’ve probably connected to your business. You probably looked down and looked at your bank account before, and you’ve priced your office sometimes maybe out of anxiety or maybe out of like a. Like a fear or I’ve got to get this done or, Oh, I’m really worried if I don’t charge enough, I’m not going to be able to do this.

[00:14:34] Or if I charge this and they’re going to think weird things and I’m not going to make money. Maybe you’ve done it because you’ve been procrastinating, you’re sick of yourself, so you finally just slapped a number on it. And, and a lot of these things, these scenarios that I’m describing come from a dysregulated nervous system.

[00:14:49] Now, a dysregulated nervous system is in a stress response and it thinks it’s running away from a bear. It thinks it’s in danger when we are in danger. The first thing that our [00:15:00] body thinks to do is get away from danger. It’s not to connect to God and spirit and intuition. Yes, we use our survival, uh, techniques, which manifest and are intuitive, but it’s not thinking about how to collect them and feel into that rock at the bottom of the river bed.

[00:15:20] That is the intuitive amount. That is the correct amount. It’s not thinking about that because it’s thinking that it needs to survive. And so we have to understand that it’s very difficult to truly find our intuition when we have experienced any level of trauma or negative self image or negative image or understanding around money, or when our nervous system is living in a baseline stress response, which a lot of us are in today’s society, it feels normal because we’ve gotten used to it, but it’s not, it’s kind of like, um, a fish [00:16:00] doesn’t know that it’s in water because it’s so used to it.

[00:16:02] You know, so all the time, a lot of the time we don’t know that we’re acting from trauma and a dysregulated nervous system because we’re so used to it. So what do we do? And how do we know when and how to price intuitively and when it will backfire? The way that I encourage people to price when they come and work with me is to really charge what your body and your nervous system can get behind energetically or feel confident and feel authoritative with, feel embodied behind and is in accordance to the market.

[00:16:39] And is in accordance to the value to the client. When we can look at all of these three things, we, and we can find the number that, one, makes sense to the client, you know, I’m not going to spend a thousand dollars on this pen because this pen is not worth a [00:17:00] thousand dollars to me right now because I know that I can go down to the store and buy one for like a couple of cents.

[00:17:08] So it doesn’t make sense market value of this pen is not 1, 000. Um, it just, I’m sure it’s, it’s an awesome, it’s a great, it’s a good pen, but it’s just not, it’s not worth 1, 000 and it’s right now. I’m not, I’m not so desperate to write something that I would need to spend 1, 000 on a pen. Now, if there was one pen left in the entire world and I was feeling like I needed to write something down.

[00:17:32] Yeah, I would spend 1, 000 on this pen. I’m not without a doubt because it’s now of more value to me. And it now the market is like there’s no pen in the market. So now I, people are willing to spend more money. That’s just basic economics. So we need to be aware of the market and we need to be aware of the value to the client.

[00:17:51] So a lot of what we do in your, your product is valuable. A lot of what we learn to do inside a body based business is articulate that, [00:18:00] that value and get really clear about what that value is. And we price things according to the value that it brings to the client as well as what. The market kind of like average or expectations are right.

[00:18:13] Just because, you know, we care about, we care about being ethical. And we also care about being realistic. You know, I’m not here. I’m not, I know some coaches that are like very into just check charge as much as you can. And I, I think that’s wonderful and great. And it just doesn’t feel good to me. Um, so I don’t really do it and I don’t encourage my clients to do it, especially because I work with a lot of people who like, you know, sell ice cream or like they sell, you know, like, They’re not necessarily in the spiritual coaching business industry, like some other coaches that I.

[00:18:50] Anyway, tangent. It’s important to also charge what your body and your nervous system can get behind. For some people, it’s going to be really activating [00:19:00] to charge like a larger amount that maybe somebody else feels really good charging. And for other people, if they charge a lower amount, their body’s not going to be able to get behind it because they’re not going to feel like they’re being re, like reimbursed for the energetic and emotional and a logistical and expenses, right?

[00:19:16] So what we need to do is we need to. Find the number that your body feels good about. Like you can sit in front of somebody and say, this is what it costs. And you have no doubts about the value of that. You’re like, yeah, this is what it costs. And it’s a freaking awesome price, right? That is in accordance with the market and is the amount of value that the perceived value that your future client is going to get out of it.

[00:19:43] That’s what we do. So those are three things. So you can kind of ask yourself kind of like what would feel really good and embodied for me. How could I feel in my body like an authority and an expert charging? What number would that be? When I look at my product or my service, what is in accordance with the market, [00:20:00] maybe do a little bit of research, see what other people are charging and what are the people that I want to work with?

[00:20:06] What are they? What do they feel would be a fair price to pay for this thing? And that’s how we price our coaching packages. The trauma informed and profitable approach. The next episode that I really recommend that you listen to, um, it’s really wonderful because it’s going to help you understand why, why it’s so deeply important to do this trauma work around money and how that’s going to be affecting our, our sales.

[00:20:38] It’s called the non negotiable trauma work of making more money. In this episode, you’re going to learn the one stance towards money that creates profit. the generational embodied patterns to understand if you want to increase your capacity to earn, spend and save, and the surprising connection between your money, your parents, your ancestors and rats.[00:21:00]

[00:21:01] I hope you enjoyed this episode. I hope you’ve enjoyed this episode. I’ll see you in the next one. Sending you lots of love.

TRANSCRIPT:

[00:00:00] In this episode, you are going to learn how my client, Alison, grew her client base by about 500 percent during one of the biggest crises of her life. And you’ll walk away by the end of the episode, the essential tool to use to make more money during any personal crisis, what to do and what not to do when your personal life begins, like the pain of your personal life starts leaking into your business and how to structure your day when you were worried that the food.

[00:00:44] The other foot is about to drop.

[00:00:51] So I want to tell you a little bit about,[00:01:00]

[00:01:00] okay. So let’s start at the beginning. Um, I’m going to share a little bit of background into how we got here and how I got to being able to give this advice. As some of you guys know, I am a trained and certified trauma therapist, and I’ve also been a lot been through a lot of. Really difficult, um, personal experiences.

[00:01:20] I was diagnosed with complex VTSD, um, and I really built my business in the epicenter of healing my complex VTSD, healing my pain with attachment, with people and money and all of these amazing things, all of these really painful things. I built my business while healing some of the most difficult parts of my life and, , during a pandemic, a large part of it was during a pandemic and also while living overseas and being very much alone.

[00:01:48] And so this advice is coming to you from that perspective of number one, being trained in trauma therapy and helping people become more resilient. I studied resiliency back when I was at [00:02:00] university. I studied it in the lens of communities. And it’s also coming from an experience of. Just personal experience helping myself and helping my clients because I think it’s really nice to think about the fact that, you know, people might build businesses when everything is going really well.

[00:02:18] And I think that’s what we would really ideally like to have is like, Oh yeah, I’m just focusing right now on building my business. But I think The, the reality is that most people are building businesses and I say building businesses because it takes a couple of years when we’re being honest with ourselves during times that are hard because you’re a human being and your life has a lot of ups and downs and you’re consistently riding the waves of different emotions.

[00:02:46] You’re growing, you’re having new relationships, you’re maybe moving, you’re dealing with health. I’m not sure either of your own or either of others. Maybe you were having a baby, maybe I don’t know, maybe you’re dealing with some mental health or some [00:03:00] neurodivergence, or maybe you’ve just had a massive life change and you’re kind of realizing that you’re not really sure what you want or what you want isn’t what you thought that you wanted.

[00:03:09] But. You and I are always dealing with all of these different kinds of personal crises in different senses. And so this episode is something that I want you to return to. And it feels like things are just kind of like very rollercoastery and a little less stable than what you thought. They would be at this time or what you really, really decide.

[00:03:30] So, the essential tool that you’re going to use during more of these rollercoaster moments is something that we call resourcing. And I’m going to get to that in a, in a moment and explain my perspective on resourcing. It’s very different to what other people might. Normally describe, but before that, I just want to take a moment to talk about what to do and what not to do when you notice that you are in one of these kind of moments where your personal life is taking, it’s asking a lot of you, , maybe you’re processing a lot.

[00:03:59] It’s [00:04:00] just asking a lot of time, energy and. And that’s leaking into your ability to be productive, make sales, feel confident in yourself and build your business. It’s very simple. The first thing is that a lot of the time when we’re dealing with these more difficult moments, the first thing we want to do is like, stop doing everything we want to pull away.

[00:04:19] We want to just focus on processing and, uh, While there is some intelligence behind that, in that, yes, you do need time and space to tend to your feelings, to tend to your emotions, to make the decisions that you need to make, to spend time with your family and loved ones, to go to the therapy, your therapist, to talk to your coach, to, you know, listen to music and do all the things that make you feel really good.

[00:04:44] What I want to articulate is that if you’re going to. Um, really look after yourself and also look after your business, and I’m going to encourage you to build in some structure. I don’t mean that you are going to force yourself and be

[00:05:00] mean to yourself and so that you can be disciplined. I mean that we are going to bring in structure and normalcy so that your body feels supported while you go through this difficult time.

[00:05:14] This is what Allison and I did. Allison came. Had something happened to her that I’m obviously not going to share, but it was something that it’s really big and it completely shook the foundations of her entire life. And we sat down and we had a call and she said, you know, how do I, how do I build my business while I’m dealing with this?

[00:05:38] Is everything changing? And we did two things. Number one, I sent her away to talk about resourcing and we’ll talk about that in a sec. And number two is that I said, we need to bring in some structure. Why? Because your body desires stability and things that are containers, it requires, it wants stability, [00:06:00] right?

[00:06:00] And so when we’re going through a personal crisis, what we usually don’t have is stability where, but your business can provide that stability. In fact, it needs to. to provide that stability. It needs to provide that normalcy. Your business needs to be a place where you can check in and you can put aside all of your pain, all of your heartbreak, all of your uncertainty.

[00:06:18] You can check it at the door. You can check into your business and there could be something there that is stable and that is going to support you. That’s what nervous system business is. That’s what body based business is. It’s going to be a safe haven for you. And so I want you to build some structure into your business.

[00:06:37] Now, in order to do that, what you might also have to do is to build some structure into your day where you do process. So you might sit down at your desk and be like, okay, cool. I’m going to focus on my business from 8am to 12pm. But when you sit down, you have, you can’t focus, you have brain fog and things feel difficult.

[00:06:55] Let me know if it’s ever happened to you. And what you’re going to do is [00:07:00] You’re going to lovingly create space either before you connect to work or After you connect to work where you promise that you will process all of the different things going on in your personal life. Now, it’s really important that you stick to this, even if you feel okay.

[00:07:20] If you make a promise to yourself that you are going to Process your emotions from 2 p. m. to 3 p. m. 2 p. m. comes around and you feel okay. So you think I might just watch Netflix instead. Then what you are doing is creating a system inside of your psyche. That tells you, Oh, when I say I’m going to do something, I don’t do it, which creates a lack of trust between you and all of your different parts.

[00:07:47] So what I need you to do is to create space, to process your emotions and stick to that space. Now that might mean that you process and you embody and you [00:08:00]

feel, Oh, I feel good. I feel resourced. I feel confident. I feel happy. I feel neutral. I don’t feel depressed. When you join body based business, you get a tool, which I call the emotional alchemy tool.

[00:08:14] And it was originally created to process difficult feelings, uncomfortable feelings. But if you promise yourself that you’re going to process your feelings from 2 to 3 p. m. or 2 to 2. 15 p. m. and 2 p. m. arrives and you feel really good, then you’re going to go into the toolbox and you’re going to use that same emotional alchemy tool so that you can increase your capacity to feel this pleasure and this neutrality or this okay ness even in one of the hardest parts of your life.

[00:08:44] And what that is going to do is it is going to make sure that you’re. body feels safe, allowing you to focus when it is time to focus because it knows that if it has a big emotion that it needs to process,

[00:09:00] you’re going to check in with it when you say that you’re going to check in with it and it can trust you to process that energy so that you can focus on your job at the time that you need to focus on your job.

[00:09:12] What we are doing is creating structure and trust inside of your system. inside of your subconscious so that you continue building your business so that your business can support you so that you receive income, so that you receive safety, so that you receive recognition, so that you receive purpose as you manage this big personal difficulty.

[00:09:34] And so the structure might actually mean Kind of like setting aside time. So saying it’s a container, right? It’s like the divide masculine container where you’re going to say, okay, I’m going to work from 8am to 12pm. And during that time, I’m going to have two client calls. Um, and I’m going to have one hour a day committed to connecting to other people.

[00:09:57] So doing marketing and visibility, and I’m going to have the

[00:10:00] other day committed to sales. So I might have a sales call or I might. You know, go and sell my things or I might work on my product or something. Now we have four hours of work done. Then I’m going to log off and I’m going to have lunch and then I’m going to process my emotions and in the evening I’m going to do something else that is required.

[00:10:17] You know, look after my kids or go out and if you’re me, you’ll go out dancing. . That’s what you’re going to do. What you are not going to do is just throw everything to the wind and throw away any structures, stability, or, , like routine or ritual, even though your big emotions might tempt you to do so, it’s going to serve you more in the long run to build structure in so that you continue growing your business and also process all of the big stuff that you have going on in your heart.

[00:10:48] So then we’re coming to. Resource.

[00:10:56] this is my co host, Freya is asking [00:11:00] questions that you are thinking, and we haven’t heard from her in a couple episodes, so I’m excited to share this episode with you, Freya, as you all build your business, um, even when life is hard, hey? So, yes, I’ve still, I’ve spoken about resourcing a little bit.

[00:11:17] Resourcing is literally life. I mean, if I could just get everyone, I got a message from a client the other day and she was talking about how one of the things that we discovered when we started, when we did her onboarding was that she really wishes that she had a higher libido. Now she’s joined body based business.

[00:11:33] We didn’t talk about this on our call, but we did find doing her onboarding. process, which is a process that all of my clients go through that takes a couple of hours. It’s very thorough. We make sure that we, um, your, that your body is being really supported through your lifestyle, through your diet, um, through different things, through energetic practices as you build your business.

[00:11:53] And so we did this onboarding and we found that her lack of libido was really affecting her overall [00:12:00] wellbeing, which was of course really affecting, uh, her, her business and her sales. And so. I gave her a couple of recommendations, very, very simple ones that she could do. She also, you know, has a full time job and all of these other commitments and is an artist.

[00:12:14] So she’s a lot of going on. And we checked in the other day, like two days ago, and she talked about how. She’s been doing resourcing and how it’s actually helped with her libido coming back. And I thought that was really really cool. So Libido is something sorry Resourcing is something that I definitely put off for a really long time and I really wish that I didn’t and now you know I just moved back to Australia.

[00:12:37] I left my home of over 10 years. This has been the hardest decision that I’ve ever made It’s been Quite scary coming back to a country where I don’t, where I do feel at home, but I don’t feel at home and just re establishing my whole life all over again, completely alone. It’s difficult. And I’ve been resourcing a lot and it’s made it really pleasurable and really, really fun.

[00:12:57] And I’m really enjoying it because of resourcing. [00:13:00] So, yes, resourcing. Right. Resourcing is… An important part of connecting with safety and befriending your body and it’s, and connecting with confidence and connecting with an regulated nervous system, that energy of, I can, I’ve got this. It’s safe to connect to other people.

[00:13:20] I am resilient. I am patient. I have clarity. I have perspective. I have confidence. I can be compassionate to myself and compassionate to others. It is the act of. Connecting to a resource and a resource is an object memory or sensation that helps us tap into an internal sense of safety and groundedness.

[00:13:40] When we pull on our resource, when we think of our resource or when we use our resource, our state shifts. So. The more resourced we feel, the easier we can deal with the challenges of entrepreneurship. So quick test, I want you to name three things right now that make you feel confident, that make you feel grounded and that [00:14:00] make you feel safe.

[00:14:01] So that for me right now, where I am in my phase of life without thinking about it too much, okay, here we go. Um, uh, connecting to my mom, my mom makes me feel. Really resourced. It’s really nice having her. She makes me feel like I can’t really fail anything. Um, the sun off the sun is just, I love the sun.

[00:14:22] It always lifts my mood. It makes me feel really confident. And my third would be, I really like, I really like connecting to, um, my client results that always makes me feel really confident in myself as a. As a practitioner, as a coach, and just as a human being, I really like reading those and celebrating things with my clients.

[00:14:44] Those are things that bring me resourceness. Okay. What are your three? Tell me what they are. Send me a message. I want to hear what they are. I really love learning people’s other resources. So yeah, the more resource we feel, the easier we can deal with all of the

[00:15:00] challenges of entrepreneurship and our personal life.

[00:15:03] And we just need to be You know, being a human is hard, entrepreneurship is hard, and if you’re here, you’re, you’re doing things that not many other people are willing to do, and that’s why you are going to create ease and freedom that they won’t. The truth is that entrepreneurs, especially Ones that want to feel embodied and aligned and healthy while building business, AKA you and I, we need more resources and entrepreneurs that have an experience of people pleasing or anxiety or depression or mental health struggles, AKA you and I, we need more resources.

[00:15:37] So. Your big hack, your big secret is to identify, see, we’ve just started with three, see if you can stretch it to 10 or the task that I gave my beautiful client, Alison, it was to identify 20 and then figure out how she would use three each day to do that while. Building your business, you need to identify these resources.

[00:15:59] So [00:16:00] happy end of the story, Alison created structure. We, she identified 20 different resources and then she’s, she’s been using three each day. That was a couple of weeks ago and she has completely booked out her group program. She posted it about it on Facebook, maybe like three times. Um she has had sales calls and clients calls.

[00:16:19] I completely fill up her calendar. And this is quite significant because this was the first time she’s actually launched her product. She had never, she didn’t have any marketing at all before. It’s all been like a little bit here and there of word of mouth. Um, so it’s the first time that she launched anything publicly and she has this massive personal client and she went from having just a couple of calls a week to being completely booked out.

[00:16:43] And the other day she was on call and I’m not saying this is like the ultimate thing, you know, her and I are going to look at how to. Do less time on zoom, but she was on calls for 11 hours because she had that many sales calls and that many people interested in joining her group program. And she’s just started the group program and she’s [00:17:00] already enrolling for the second cohort.

[00:17:01] So she’s had this massive, massive increase. In all of the people coming in ready to work with her during the biggest personal crisis of her life. And she’s still enjoying herself. She’s still happy. You know, she’s, she had a couple of, um, couple of days in the beginning where it was difficult to sleep, but now she’s back into a good sleep rhythm.

[00:17:20] She’s back. She’s eating well. She’s, she’s enjoying herself. She’s going out dancing on the weekends. She’s doing all the things that make herself feel really good going to church, you know, all that stuff that she really enjoys. And that’s. That’s what I want for you. So moral of the story is find spaciousness, find structure, commit to it and resource and resource yourself so that you, just like Alison, just like my beautiful client, Alison can increase your product even.

[00:17:49] Your profit, even during these emotional roller coasters.
